excuse me?
I have been experiencing a frequent urge to urinate lately, but the volume is very small each time.
I keep wanting to go to the bathroom, even at night.
I also feel a bloated sensation around my abdomen and below my navel, which is uncomfortable.
When I press on the area around my abdomen and below my navel, I feel slight pain and discomfort.
This has been a regular occurrence, but it is especially uncomfortable in the morning right after I wake up; I feel a strong urge to urinate, and if I don't go, it becomes very painful.
Once I do urinate, I feel somewhat better.
I went to the hospital for a urinalysis, and there were no significant issues.
The doctor prescribed me medication to help with urination, and after taking it for three weeks, I noticed less frequent urination during the day.
However, at night while sleeping, I still feel a bloated sensation and a strong urge to urinate, which is really uncomfortable, and the amount of urine is still small.
The discomfort in my abdominal area has persisted for several months.
Could you please advise me on what might be the problem? Thank you!

Hello: I would like to respond as follows.
Due to the lack of your basic information, such as gender and age, as well as the absence of an actual consultation, I cannot make any definitive conclusions.
However, based on your description, it is possible that you may have a urinary obstruction issue.
I recommend that you visit a clinic to discuss your condition in detail with a physician.
Thank you.

Frequent urination and abdominal discomfort can be distressing symptoms that significantly impact your quality of life. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing a combination of urinary urgency, discomfort in the lower abdomen, and possibly some pain when pressing on that area. These symptoms can be indicative of several underlying conditions, and understanding the potential causes can help guide appropriate treatment.
One common cause of frequent urination is a condition known as overactive bladder (OAB), which is characterized by an urgent need to urinate frequently, often with little urine produced. This can be exacerbated by factors such as anxiety, certain medications, or even dietary choices (like caffeine or alcohol). In your case, since you mentioned that the urgency is particularly pronounced in the morning and that you feel discomfort if you do not urinate, it may suggest that your bladder is hyperactive or that there is some irritation or inflammation present.
Another possibility is a urinary tract infection (UTI), which can cause similar symptoms, including frequent urination, urgency, and abdominal discomfort. However, since you have already undergone urinalysis and no infection was detected, this may be less likely. It’s also worth noting that conditions like interstitial cystitis (a chronic condition causing bladder pressure and pain) could be at play, especially if you have been experiencing these symptoms for several months.
The discomfort you feel in the lower abdomen, particularly when pressing on that area, could be related to several factors. It might be due to bladder distension, especially if you are holding urine for extended periods. Additionally, issues such as constipation or pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to abdominal discomfort and may also affect urinary patterns. Given that you mentioned feeling better after urinating, this could indicate that your bladder is indeed a significant factor in your discomfort.
In terms of treatment, it’s essential to address both the urinary symptoms and the abdominal discomfort. Since you have already been prescribed medication to help with urination, it may be beneficial to follow up with your healthcare provider to discuss your ongoing symptoms. They may consider further evaluations, such as bladder function tests or imaging studies, to rule out any anatomical issues or other underlying conditions.
Lifestyle modifications can also play a crucial role in managing your symptoms. Staying well-hydrated, avoiding bladder irritants (like caffeine and spicy foods), and practicing pelvic floor exercises may help improve your bladder control and reduce discomfort. Additionally, if constipation is a contributing factor, ensuring regular bowel movements through dietary changes or medications may alleviate some of the abdominal pressure you are experiencing.
In conclusion, while your symptoms may stem from a variety of causes, it’s essential to work closely with your healthcare provider to determine the underlying issue and develop an effective treatment plan. Regular follow-ups and open communication about your symptoms will be key in managing your condition and improving your quality of life. If your symptoms persist or worsen, do not hesitate to seek further medical advice.
