Mental sleep
Hello, doctor.
First of all, thank you.
I am gradually improving.
I am currently receiving treatment from a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, and I have seen some improvements.
The doctor is very kind and has a warm and gentle demeanor, which makes me feel comfortable.
I even feel a sense of dependence on the herbal medicine; after finishing a dose, I find myself wanting more and looking forward to my next appointment.
Some mental and physical issues caused by my personality may be difficult to change, but I will work hard to improve.
Occasionally, I experience severe insomnia, and I still can't help but take prescription sleep aids to avoid using food to manage my emotions, which has led to weight gain.
I also occasionally suffer from colds, but the medications from your hospital have been effective in controlling and improving my condition.
Most of my family members also seek treatment at your hospital, and their conditions have improved as well.
The doctors are all very good, and I believe the quality of care in public hospitals is getting better and better.
I hope everyone stays safe, and those who are ill can recover soon.
I also look forward to one day becoming a part of a national organization, achieving my goal of a stable and peaceful life, and having the capacity to serve my beloved family and those in need in Taiwan.
Wishing you success, safety, and good health as well.
Keep up the good work!

Improving mental health is a multifaceted endeavor that often requires a combination of traditional and modern medical approaches. It's heartening to hear that you are experiencing improvements in your mental health through traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and that you have found a supportive physician. The journey to mental wellness can be complex, especially when dealing with underlying personality traits that may contribute to emotional and physical challenges.
Incorporating both traditional and modern medicine can provide a more holistic approach to mental health. Traditional medicine, such as TCM, often emphasizes the balance of body, mind, and spirit. It utilizes herbal remedies, acupuncture, and dietary adjustments to promote overall well-being. Many patients report feeling a sense of warmth and comfort from their TCM practitioners, which can be an essential aspect of the healing process. The relationship between patient and practitioner can significantly influence treatment outcomes, as a supportive environment fosters trust and openness.
On the other hand, modern medicine offers evidence-based treatments, including psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Medications such as antidepressants, anxiolytics, and mood stabilizers can be effective in managing symptoms of mental health disorders. However, as you mentioned, reliance on medications, especially sedatives, can lead to concerns about weight gain and dependency. It's crucial to have open discussions with your healthcare provider about these side effects and explore alternative options that may be less impactful on your physical health.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is one modern therapeutic approach that has shown effectiveness in treating various mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression. CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals struggling with emotional regulation. Combining CBT with TCM could enhance your overall treatment plan, as it addresses both the psychological and physiological aspects of mental health.
Lifestyle modifications also play a significant role in improving mental health. Regular physical activity, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep are foundational elements that support emotional well-being. Engaging in mindfulness practices, such as meditation or yoga, can help reduce stress and improve emotional regulation. These practices can complement both TCM and modern medical treatments, providing a comprehensive approach to mental health.
It's also important to consider the social aspect of mental health. Building a support network of family and friends can provide emotional support and reduce feelings of isolation. Participating in community activities or support groups can foster connections with others who may be experiencing similar challenges, further enhancing your sense of belonging and support.
As you continue on your journey to mental wellness, it's essential to remain patient and compassionate with yourself. Change takes time, and setbacks may occur. However, with a combination of traditional and modern medical approaches, along with lifestyle changes and social support, you can work towards achieving a stable and peaceful life.
In conclusion, improving mental health through a blend of traditional and modern medicine is not only possible but can be highly effective. By embracing a holistic approach that includes TCM, psychotherapy, lifestyle modifications, and social support, you can create a robust framework for your mental health journey. Remember to communicate openly with your healthcare providers about your experiences and concerns, as this collaboration is key to finding the most effective treatment plan for you. Wishing you continued progress and well-being on your path to recovery!
