Yellow small bumps on the penis?

There is a yellow bump on the penis, located near the area just below the frenulum connecting to the glans.
It can be lifted with a fingernail, but it cannot be completely removed.
It resembles a patch of skin that is partially adhered, with some parts being able to be lifted by hand.
However, it is yellow and does not match the color of the surrounding skin, so I am seeking advice on this matter.

More Info

Yellow bumps on the penis can be concerning, and it's important to understand their potential causes and treatments. Based on your description, it sounds like you may be dealing with a condition known as a sebaceous cyst or possibly pearly penile papules. Let's delve into these possibilities and discuss what you can do about them.

Possible Causes
1. Sebaceous Cysts: These are common benign lumps that can occur anywhere on the body, including the genital area. They are formed when the sebaceous glands, which produce oil for the skin, become blocked. The trapped oil can create a yellowish bump that may feel soft and movable. These cysts are usually painless and not a cause for concern unless they become infected.

2. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are often skin-colored or slightly yellow and are considered a normal anatomical variant. Pearly penile papules are not sexually transmitted and do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress.

3. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale yellow or white bumps that are actually enlarged sebaceous glands. They are common and harmless, often appearing on the shaft of the penis or the scrotum.

4. Infection or Inflammation: In some cases, yellow bumps can indicate an infection, such as a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or a fungal infection. If the bump is painful, itchy, or accompanied by other symptoms (such as discharge or fever), it is crucial to seek medical attention.

5. Other Skin Conditions: Conditions like molluscum contagiosum, genital warts, or other dermatological issues can also present as bumps on the penis. These may require specific treatments depending on their nature.

Treatment Options
- Observation: If the bump is painless, not changing in size, and not causing any discomfort, it may be best to simply monitor it. Many benign conditions do not require treatment.

- Warm Compress: If you suspect a sebaceous cyst, applying a warm compress may help reduce inflammation and promote drainage if it becomes infected.

- Medical Evaluation: If you are uncertain about the nature of the bump, or if it changes in appearance, becomes painful, or is accompanied by other symptoms, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider. They may perform a physical examination and, if necessary, conduct tests to rule out infections or other conditions.

- Surgical Removal: For sebaceous cysts or other benign growths that cause discomfort or concern, a healthcare provider may recommend surgical removal. This is typically a minor procedure performed under local anesthesia.

- Topical Treatments: If the bump is due to an infection or a skin condition, your doctor may prescribe topical or oral medications to address the issue.

Conclusion
While yellow bumps on the penis can be alarming, many are benign and do not require treatment. However, it is essential to differentiate between harmless conditions and those that may require medical intervention. If you have any doubts or if the bump changes, seeking medical advice is the best course of action. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider can help ensure your sexual health and overall well-being.
