Hidden penis?
The doctor I saw before said that I am not suitable for circumcision because it might cause the glans to become more retracted.
The doctor only mentioned this to me.
After researching online, it seems that I have a less severe case of hidden penis, which is why it appears shorter.
However, the opening at the tip of my foreskin is too small, making me feel different from others.
I really envy those with normal foreskin and penis.
The doctor suggested that I apply an ointment to the tip of the glans under the foreskin, but I didn't ask for detailed application instructions.
1.
Could you please explain how to apply the ointment?
2.
Should I expose the tip of the glans before applying, or can I apply it while in a normal state under the foreskin?
3.
After applying the treatment, if there is improvement, will the length increase?
4.
Is hidden penis mostly caused by obesity from a young age? Will losing weight help improve the condition?
5.
I previously asked you about the treatment duration, and you mentioned it would take about 6 months or longer.
Is this timeframe similar for my case of less severe hidden penis?
I have been feeling quite depressed about this for a long time, and it has made me quite withdrawn.
I would appreciate any advice and answers from you.
Thank you.

Person A: Hello.
1.
Application means to apply the medication to the narrowest area.
2.
The glans does not need to be exposed for application.
It can also be applied to the smallest area after exposing the glans.
3.
The length will not change; if you want the penis to appear normal, you need to reduce the fatty tissue at the base of the penis, which will expose the originally buried base and make it look more normal.
4.
Losing weight will help, but if the lower abdomen does not slim down, it will remain the same.
5.
The typical treatment duration will exceed 6 months because the amount of medication absorbed through the skin is minimal.
As for a hidden penis, it depends on the rate of localized fat reduction; some people undergo localized surgery to remove fat from the lower abdomen, which immediately restores the penis to its proper appearance.
However, this requires out-of-pocket expenses, and not every physician is willing to perform it, as it only pertains to cosmetic surgery and is not related to a medical condition.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again for further discussion and research.

More Info
Understanding hidden penis, or concealed penis, is essential for individuals who may be experiencing this condition, as it can significantly impact self-esteem and quality of life. The condition is often characterized by a penis that appears shorter than average due to excessive skin or fat, which can obscure the shaft. This can be particularly distressing for those affected, leading to feelings of inadequacy or embarrassment.
Treatment Options
1. Topical Treatments: Your doctor has recommended using a topical ointment on the glans (the head of the penis) and the surrounding area. This treatment is often aimed at improving skin elasticity and may help in cases where the skin is tight or the opening of the foreskin is too small.
2. Application Technique:
- Preparation: Before applying the ointment, ensure that the area is clean. Gently wash the area with mild soap and water, and pat it dry.
- Application: It is generally recommended to apply the ointment when the penis is in a flaccid state. This allows for better coverage and absorption. You can gently retract the foreskin to expose the glans and apply a thin layer of the ointment directly onto the glans and the inner surface of the foreskin.
- Frequency: Follow your doctor's instructions regarding how often to apply the ointment. Typically, it may be applied once or twice daily.
3. Expected Outcomes: While using the ointment, you may notice improvements in skin texture and elasticity over time. However, whether this will lead to an increase in length is uncertain. The primary goal of such treatments is to alleviate any discomfort and improve the overall appearance of the penis.
Factors Contributing to Hidden Penis
1. Weight and Body Composition: Hidden penis can be exacerbated by obesity, as excess fat in the pubic area can push the penis inward. Losing weight may help in some cases, as it can reduce the fat pad around the base of the penis, potentially making it more visible.
2. Genetics and Development: Some individuals may naturally have a shorter penis or a more pronounced hidden penis due to genetic factors. This is not necessarily related to weight.
Duration of Treatment
The duration of treatment can vary based on the severity of the condition and individual response to therapy. While your doctor mentioned a timeframe of about six months or longer, this can apply to both mild and more severe cases. Regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider are essential to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
Psychological Impact
It’s important to acknowledge the emotional and psychological effects of having a hidden penis. Feelings of depression and social withdrawal are common. Seeking support from a mental health professional can be beneficial. They can provide coping strategies and help you work through feelings of inadequacy or anxiety related to your condition.
Conclusion
In summary, managing hidden penis involves a combination of topical treatments, potential lifestyle changes, and psychological support. It’s crucial to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider about your treatment progress and any concerns you may have. Remember, you are not alone in this experience, and there are resources available to help you navigate both the physical and emotional aspects of your condition.
