Is it possible to get pregnant from sitting on a toilet seat with an unknown liquid?

Hello, Doctor: My menstrual cycle was from July 4 to July 10 this month, but on July 15, I used a public restroom (which is unisex) and, without paying close attention, I sat directly on the toilet seat.
Later, I noticed that there seemed to be some unknown liquid on it, and that day happened to be during my ovulation period.
I have a few questions:
1.
If that liquid was indeed semen, what is the likelihood of pregnancy? I have heard of a news story about a young girl who became pregnant from sitting on a public toilet seat.

2.
I'm not entirely sure if that liquid dripped down my thigh onto my underwear when I stood up.
Is there a possibility of that happening? Others have mentioned that this is unlikely.
If it did happen, would that increase the chances of pregnancy?
3.
I started noticing thick, egg white-like discharge around July 16 to July 17, which I believe was during my ovulation period.
However, on July 18 and 19, there was no discharge, but then on July 20, I noticed a large amount of egg white-like discharge again.
Why is this happening? Isn't ovulation typically only one or two days long? Is this normal?
4.
For the past few days, I have been feeling a strange, uncomfortable sensation in my abdomen (almost like movement).
Could this be related to sitting on the toilet? What is the likelihood of pregnancy? Is it possible? I'm very worried...
Please help clarify these concerns, Doctor!

Hello, based on your description, the chances of conception are quite low.
However, to be on the safe side, if your period is more than a week late, it is advisable to check for pregnancy.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health, Dr.
Chang.

Sitting on a public toilet seat does not pose a significant risk for pregnancy. The concerns surrounding this issue often stem from misconceptions about how pregnancy occurs. To clarify, pregnancy can only happen when sperm fertilizes an egg, which typically occurs through sexual intercourse. Here are some points to consider regarding your concerns:
1. Public Toilet Hygiene: While public restrooms can harbor bacteria and viruses, the likelihood of becoming pregnant from sitting on a toilet seat is virtually nonexistent. Sperm cannot survive long outside the human body, especially on surfaces like toilet seats. Even if there were sperm present on the seat, it would not be viable for fertilization once exposed to air and environmental conditions.

2. Liquid on the Toilet Seat: If you noticed an unknown liquid on the toilet seat, it is essential to remember that this could be anything from water to cleaning solutions or bodily fluids. However, the chances of that liquid containing viable sperm are extremely low. Even if it did, the act of sitting down would not facilitate the sperm's journey to your reproductive system.

3. Potential for Liquid Transfer: The idea that liquid could drip down your thigh and into your underwear is highly improbable. For pregnancy to occur, sperm must be deposited directly into the vaginal canal. The anatomy and the mechanics of sitting do not support the transfer of sperm in this manner.

4. Ovulation and Discharge: The changes in your cervical mucus, such as the presence of clear, stretchy discharge, are normal and indicate that you are likely in your fertile window. Ovulation can sometimes be accompanied by variations in discharge, and it is not unusual for the mucus to change in consistency over a few days. This does not indicate any irregularity but rather reflects the natural hormonal fluctuations that occur during your menstrual cycle.

5. Abdominal Sensations: The feelings of discomfort or unusual sensations in your abdomen could be attributed to various factors, including hormonal changes, digestive issues, or even anxiety about the situation. It is essential to differentiate between normal bodily sensations and symptoms that may indicate a medical issue. If these sensations persist or worsen, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional.

6. Pregnancy Concerns: Given the circumstances you described, the likelihood of becoming pregnant from sitting on a public toilet seat is extremely low. If you are concerned about potential pregnancy, consider taking a home pregnancy test after a missed period or consulting with a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

In summary, while it is always good to be cautious about hygiene in public restrooms, the risk of pregnancy from sitting on a toilet seat is negligible. If you have further concerns about your menstrual cycle, ovulation, or any unusual symptoms, it is advisable to seek guidance from a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice based on your health history and current situation.
