Short penis when not erect?
Hello doctor, my question is that my penis is quite short and shrinks to about 2 centimeters when I finish playing sports (it has always been like this).
It shrinks even more in cold weather.
Normally, it is about 3 to 4 centimeters (but it looks very short), but when erect, it measures 11 centimeters.
When not erect, it is completely retracted, and the glans is not visible, although I can expose it manually.
I was wondering if circumcision would make it appear larger when not erect, but I found many sources suggesting not to circumcise, saying it could lead to regrets like it becoming shorter.
I also came across the "breathable tape method" and wonder if it is effective.
I have already passed the growth age and am feeling a bit troubled.
Thank you for helping me with this question.

Anonymous: Hello, I'm not sure if you have a body type with thicker lower abdominal fat.
If that's the case, surgery may indeed have adverse effects.
Additionally, as long as the erection length is adequate for normal sexual intercourse, there may be no need for special surgery.
Whether or not to undergo circumcision should be evaluated by a physician.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.

It's understandable to have concerns about penile size, especially when it comes to flaccid length. Many men experience variations in size due to factors such as temperature, arousal, and even anxiety. In your case, it seems that your flaccid length is shorter than average, but your erect size is within a normal range.
Firstly, it's important to note that the average flaccid penis size can vary widely among individuals, and many factors can influence this measurement. Cold temperatures, physical activity, and even stress can cause the penis to retract, making it appear shorter. This is a normal physiological response and does not necessarily indicate any underlying health issues.
Regarding your concern about circumcision, it's a common misconception that circumcision will increase the size of the penis. In fact, circumcision removes the foreskin, which can sometimes make the penis appear longer when erect due to the removal of the skin that covers the glans. However, it does not actually increase the size of the penis itself. Some men report feeling more comfortable or confident after circumcision, while others may not notice any significant change. It's essential to weigh the potential benefits and risks of the procedure, including the possibility of complications or changes in sensitivity.
The "tape method" you mentioned is a non-surgical approach that some individuals use to try to achieve a longer appearance of the penis. This method involves using tape to pull the penis down and away from the body, which may temporarily create the illusion of increased length. However, there is no scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of this method for permanent size increase, and it may lead to discomfort or skin irritation.
If you're feeling distressed about your size or if it affects your self-esteem or relationships, it may be beneficial to speak with a healthcare professional or a urologist. They can provide a thorough evaluation and discuss any concerns you may have. They can also help clarify any misconceptions and provide guidance on what to expect regarding penile size and function.
In summary, while concerns about penile size are common, it's crucial to understand that variations in size are normal and influenced by various factors. Circumcision is a personal decision that should be made after careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks. Non-surgical methods like the tape method may not provide lasting results and could lead to discomfort. If your concerns persist, seeking professional advice can help you navigate these feelings and provide reassurance. Remember, confidence and self-acceptance are key components of a healthy self-image, regardless of size.
