Pain in the left testicle while driving?
In the past week, I've noticed that whenever I drive, I experience a dull pain in my left testicle, similar to the sensation of tight clothing.
However, after several checks, I confirmed that it is not due to tightness.
I only drive to and from work each day, not for extended periods.
Could you explain why this is happening? P.S.
I also have a recent issue with a gastric ulcer; could this be related?

Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology
Hello, it could be due to pressure from your pants.
It may also be caused by varicocele leading to pain.
Additionally, a gastric ulcer should not have an impact.
If you are concerned, consider checking your urine and getting a scrotal ultrasound, among other tests.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again for further discussion and research.

Left testicular pain while driving can be concerning and may arise from various causes. Given your description of the pain being similar to discomfort from tight clothing, it is essential to consider both mechanical and medical factors that could contribute to this sensation.
One potential cause of left testicular pain is referred pain from other areas of the body. The testicles are innervated by nerves that also supply other regions, such as the abdomen and lower back. Conditions affecting the abdomen, such as gastrointestinal issues, can sometimes manifest as testicular pain. Since you mentioned having a history of gastric ulcers, it is possible that the discomfort in your stomach could be radiating down to your testicles, leading to the pain you experience while driving.
Another possibility is that the position you adopt while driving may be putting pressure on the groin area, particularly if your seat is not adjusted correctly or if you are sitting in a way that compresses the nerves or blood vessels supplying the testicles. This could lead to a sensation of pain or discomfort that feels like it is originating from the testicles themselves.
In addition, conditions such as epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis), testicular torsion (twisting of the spermatic cord), or hernias can also cause localized testicular pain. Epididymitis, for instance, can result from infections or trauma and may present with pain that can be exacerbated by certain positions or activities, including driving. Testicular torsion is a medical emergency and is characterized by sudden, severe pain and swelling, typically requiring immediate intervention.
Given the complexity of the symptoms and the potential overlap with your gastrointestinal issues, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly imaging studies, to determine the underlying cause of your pain. They may also consider referring you to a urologist, who specializes in male reproductive health, for further assessment.
In the meantime, consider adjusting your driving position to ensure that you are comfortable and not putting undue pressure on your groin area. If the pain persists or worsens, or if you experience additional symptoms such as swelling, redness, or fever, seek medical attention promptly.
In summary, left testicular pain while driving can stem from various causes, including referred pain from abdominal issues, mechanical factors related to driving posture, or specific medical conditions affecting the testicles. Given your recent history of gastric ulcers, it is essential to address both the gastrointestinal and urological aspects of your health to ensure a comprehensive approach to your symptoms.
