Ruby laser
Hello, I would like to ask if I can undergo ruby laser spot removal on the same day as my outpatient appointment, or do I need to schedule a separate time? I had this laser treatment done last year at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taipei, but due to distance, I would like to have it done in Hsinchu this year.

Your question mentioned Fengyuan Hospital in Taichung.
Please readdress your inquiry to a physician at Hsinchu Hospital.
Thank you.
Additionally, our hospital's spot removal machines include the Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser and the Ruby laser, but we do not have a Ruby laser.

When considering ruby laser spot removal, it's essential to understand the logistics and requirements of the procedure. Generally, whether you can undergo ruby laser treatment on the same day as your consultation depends on several factors, including the clinic's scheduling, the physician's assessment, and your skin's condition.
In many dermatology clinics, especially those that specialize in laser treatments, it is possible to have the procedure done on the same day as your consultation. However, this is contingent upon a few key considerations:
1. Consultation Assessment: During your initial consultation, the dermatologist will evaluate your skin type, the specific pigmentation issues you want to address, and any potential contraindications for the laser treatment. If your skin is deemed suitable for the procedure and there are no concerns, the doctor may proceed with the treatment on the same day.
2. Preparation Time: Some clinics may require time to prepare for the procedure, which includes setting up the laser equipment and ensuring that all safety protocols are in place. This preparation time can vary from clinic to clinic.
3. Patient Readiness: You should also be prepared for the procedure. This includes understanding the aftercare required post-treatment, potential side effects, and any necessary precautions. If you feel ready and informed, this can facilitate same-day treatment.
4. Clinic Policies: Each clinic may have its own policies regarding scheduling and treatment. Some may prefer to schedule treatments for another day to ensure that patients have adequate time to ask questions and prepare mentally for the procedure.
5. Availability of Equipment: The specific type of laser available at the clinic is also a factor. As noted in previous responses, some clinics may not offer ruby lasers but instead use other types like the Q-switched lasers or others that may be equally effective for spot removal.
If you are considering getting ruby laser spot removal in Hsinchu, it would be best to contact the clinic directly. They can provide specific information regarding their scheduling practices and whether same-day treatment is feasible.
In terms of the effectiveness of ruby laser treatment, it is known for its precision in targeting pigmented lesions. The ruby laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the skin. This absorption causes the pigment to break down, allowing the body to naturally eliminate it. However, multiple sessions may be required for optimal results, and some patients may experience temporary side effects such as redness or swelling.
Additionally, it’s important to follow post-treatment care instructions diligently. This typically includes avoiding sun exposure, using sunscreen, and possibly applying topical treatments to aid healing and reduce pigmentation.
In conclusion, while same-day ruby laser spot removal may be possible, it ultimately depends on the clinic's policies, your skin's condition, and the doctor's assessment. Always consult with a qualified dermatologist to ensure that you receive the best care tailored to your specific needs.
