Regarding erectile dysfunction, I currently have this issue..?

Hello, Dr.
Hsu.
My question is that starting around February or March of last year, I used to have no trouble achieving an erection and the hardness was normal.
However, after being startled by a very open woman, I began to experience gradual changes.
From stage four to now, I have found it increasingly difficult to achieve an erection and the hardness has diminished significantly.
It has become more severe over time, and I now have very little sensation.
I have also engaged in masturbation, but it feels strange, and I notice that my erections are getting softer and my ejaculation time is getting quicker.
Additionally, I have tried watching adult films, but I find it increasingly difficult to achieve an erection.
What would be the best way to address this issue?

If the issue is caused by psychological factors, it is advisable to seek psychological counseling.

More Info

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue that many men face at some point in their lives. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including psychological, physiological, and lifestyle-related issues. Understanding these causes is crucial for finding effective solutions.

Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
1. Psychological Factors: Anxiety, depression, and stress can significantly impact sexual performance. In your case, it seems that an experience with a particularly open partner may have triggered anxiety, leading to a decrease in sexual confidence and performance. This is not uncommon; psychological barriers can create a cycle of fear and performance anxiety that exacerbates the problem.

2. Physiological Factors: Conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and hormonal imbalances can affect blood flow and nerve function, leading to difficulties in achieving or maintaining an erection. Additionally, medications for other health issues can also have side effects that contribute to ED.

3. Lifestyle Factors: Poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption can all contribute to erectile dysfunction. A sedentary lifestyle can lead to poor cardiovascular health, which is essential for proper erectile function.

4. Age: As men age, the likelihood of experiencing erectile dysfunction increases due to natural changes in hormone levels and blood flow.

Solutions for Erectile Dysfunction
1. Consult a Healthcare Professional: It’s essential to speak with a doctor or a urologist who can evaluate your specific situation. They may conduct tests to rule out underlying health conditions that could be contributing to your ED.

2. Psychological Counseling: If anxiety or psychological factors are at play, therapy or counseling can be beneficial. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is particularly effective for addressing performance anxiety and other psychological barriers.

3. Lifestyle Changes:
- Exercise Regularly: Engaging in regular physical activity can improve blood circulation and overall health, which can enhance erectile function.

- Healthy Diet: A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can improve cardiovascular health and blood flow.

- Limit Alcohol and Quit Smoking: Reducing alcohol intake and quitting smoking can have a positive impact on erectile function.

4. Medications: There are various medications available that can help with erectile dysfunction, such as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (e.g., Viagra, Cialis). These medications work by increasing blood flow to the penis, making it easier to achieve an erection.

5. Avoid Excessive Stimulation: If you find that watching adult films is leading to decreased sensitivity or difficulty in achieving an erection, it may be helpful to take a break from such stimuli. Overexposure to pornography can sometimes lead to unrealistic expectations and decreased sexual satisfaction.

6. Pelvic Floor Exercises: Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles through exercises like Kegels can improve erectile function and enhance sexual performance.

7. Monitor and Manage Stress: Finding healthy ways to manage stress, such as through mindfulness, meditation, or yoga, can help alleviate anxiety related to sexual performance.

Conclusion
Erectile dysfunction can be a complex issue with multiple contributing factors. It’s important to approach it holistically, considering both physical and psychological aspects. By consulting with a healthcare professional, making lifestyle changes, and possibly exploring therapy, you can work towards improving your erectile function and overall sexual health. Remember, you are not alone in this, and many men experience similar challenges. Seeking help is a positive step towards regaining confidence and improving your sexual health.
