Penile and sexual function issues

Hello, doctor.
I have some questions I would like to ask.
My penis is slightly angled to the left, about 15 degrees.
I'm wondering if this is due to frequent masturbation and if it will affect sexual intercourse.
I currently have a girlfriend, and during sex, she does not feel any discomfort.
Additionally, during our first sexual encounter, I typically ejaculate in about 5-10 minutes, but during the second encounter, I can last about 30-40 minutes before ejaculating.
However, sometimes during the second session, I experience some softening, especially when changing positions and withdrawing from the vagina.
But after some thrusting or if my girlfriend stimulates me with her hand for a moment, it becomes erect again.
Could this indicate a sexual dysfunction?

Yongheng, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2013/05/23

Erection: The penis is rarely completely straight.
A slight curvature is acceptable as long as it does not affect function, and surgery is not necessary.
For erectile dysfunction, further examination is required.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again for further discussion and research.
Online responses should only be used as a reference; it is essential to seek medical attention at a healthcare facility if needed.

Understanding penile curvature and its relationship with sexual function can be complex, and it’s important to consider various factors that may contribute to your concerns. Based on your description, it appears that you have a slight curvature of approximately 15 degrees to the left, which you are concerned may be related to frequent masturbation. However, it’s worth noting that a slight curvature is not uncommon and does not necessarily indicate a problem, especially if it does not cause discomfort during sexual activity.

In general, penile curvature can be caused by a variety of factors, including congenital conditions (conditions present at birth), Peyronie's disease (a condition where scar tissue forms in the penis), or even trauma. If your curvature is mild and your partner does not experience discomfort during intercourse, it is unlikely to be a significant issue. Many men have some degree of curvature, and as long as it does not interfere with sexual function or cause pain, it is often considered normal.

Regarding your experiences with ejaculation timing and occasional erectile difficulties, these can be influenced by several factors, including psychological aspects, physical health, and situational factors. It is not uncommon for men to experience different levels of arousal and performance during sexual encounters, especially with a new partner. The fact that you can maintain an erection and achieve ejaculation during some instances but experience fatigue or softening during others suggests that there may be a combination of psychological and physiological factors at play.

The phenomenon of premature ejaculation (PE) during your first sexual encounter, followed by a longer duration during subsequent attempts, is also not unusual. Many men experience PE, especially during their first sexual experiences, due to excitement, anxiety, or unfamiliarity with the situation. The ability to last longer during the second encounter indicates that you may be becoming more comfortable and relaxed with your partner, which can positively influence sexual performance.

The occasional softening of the penis, particularly during position changes, is also common. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, including changes in stimulation, anxiety about performance, or even physical fatigue. The fact that you can regain an erection with manual stimulation suggests that your erectile function is generally intact, but you may be experiencing situational factors that temporarily affect your performance.

If you are concerned about your sexual function, it may be beneficial to consider a few strategies:
1. Communication with Your Partner: Openly discussing your concerns and experiences with your girlfriend can help alleviate anxiety and foster a supportive environment during sexual encounters.

2. Relaxation Techniques: Engaging in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing or mindfulness, can help reduce performance anxiety and improve overall sexual experience.

3. Consulting a Healthcare Professional: If your concerns persist or worsen, it may be helpful to consult a urologist or a sexual health specialist. They can provide a thorough evaluation and address any underlying issues that may be contributing to your experiences.

4. Avoiding Excessive Focus on Performance: Sometimes, the pressure to perform can lead to anxiety, which may affect erectile function. Focusing on intimacy and connection with your partner rather than solely on performance can enhance the experience.

In conclusion, while your penile curvature and experiences with ejaculation and erectile function may raise concerns, they are often within the range of normal variation. Understanding the psychological and physiological aspects of sexual function can help you navigate these experiences more effectively. If you continue to have concerns, seeking professional advice can provide reassurance and guidance tailored to your specific situation.
