There are small bumps on the surface of the glans?

Hello Doctor: I have developed small bumps on the surface of my glans, not located in the coronal sulcus, but distributed across the surface.
They have been present for several years without any increase in size or number.
They resemble typical pearly penile papules, but my lesions are located on the glans.
Could this be something like cancer?

More Info

Pearly penile papules (PPP) are small, dome-shaped, skin-colored or white bumps that typically appear around the glans (the head) of the penis. They are often mistaken for warts or other lesions, but it is important to understand that they are a normal anatomical variant and not a sign of any disease or condition, including cancer.

PPP usually presents as multiple small papules that are arranged in one or more rows around the corona of the glans. They are harmless and do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress or concern for the individual. The presence of these papules is quite common, with studies suggesting that they occur in a significant percentage of males, particularly those who are uncircumcised.

The exact cause of pearly penile papules is not well understood, but they are thought to be a normal developmental feature rather than a pathological condition. They are not contagious and do not pose any health risks. Importantly, they are not associated with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or any other medical conditions.

In your case, since you mentioned that these bumps have been present for several years without any changes in size or number, it is highly likely that they are indeed pearly penile papules. The fact that they have remained stable over time is a reassuring sign. Cancerous lesions, on the other hand, typically exhibit changes such as growth, changes in color, irregular borders, or associated symptoms like pain or bleeding.

If you are still concerned about the appearance of these bumps, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional, such as a urologist or dermatologist, who can provide a thorough examination and confirm the diagnosis. They may also offer reassurance and discuss any treatment options if you feel uncomfortable with their presence.

In summary, pearly penile papules are a benign condition and not a cause for concern. They are a normal variant of penile anatomy and do not indicate any underlying health issues. If you have any further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to seek medical advice for peace of mind.
