Discomfort in the testicles with a pulling sensation?
Hello Dr.
Lin, I have been experiencing a discomfort in my right testicle for the entire week.
It doesn't quite feel like pain, but more like a pulling sensation, primarily located towards the back or above the testicle.
I'm not entirely sure about this feeling; sometimes the pulling sensation is not very noticeable, but it seems to persist.
At other times, the discomfort can be quite pronounced, although my urination, sleep, and other daily activities remain normal.
I don't wake up at night because of it, but this uncomfortable feeling is always present.
Occasionally, I also feel that this discomfort radiates to my right leg, which feels a bit strange.
These symptoms started on August 11, and I had masturbated on August 10 without any issues that day, and even on the morning of August 11, I felt fine until later in the day when the discomfort began.
I would appreciate your insights.
Thank you.

Hello: Your brief description of symptoms does not provide enough information for the physician to make a diagnosis.
Have you engaged in any strenuous exercise recently? Additionally, wearing tight pants regularly could also be a contributing factor.
It is recommended that you visit a urology clinic for a more definitive diagnosis.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Testicular discomfort can be a concerning symptom, and it’s important to understand the potential causes and when to seek medical help. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing a pulling sensation in your right testicle, which is not accompanied by severe pain but is persistent and sometimes radiates to your right leg.
There are several possible causes for testicular discomfort, ranging from benign to more serious conditions. Here are some common causes:
1. Epididymitis: This is an inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that stores and carries sperm. It can cause discomfort in the testicle and may be associated with urinary symptoms or discharge. It is often caused by infections, including sexually transmitted infections.
2. Testicular Torsion: This is a medical emergency where the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. Symptoms typically include sudden, severe pain and swelling, but in some cases, discomfort may start gradually. If you experience severe pain, swelling, or changes in color of the testicle, seek immediate medical attention.
3. Hernia: An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. This can cause discomfort in the groin and may radiate to the testicle.
4. Varicocele: This is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, which can cause a dull ache or discomfort, especially after standing or physical activity.
5. Trauma or Injury: Any recent trauma to the groin area, including during sexual activity, can lead to discomfort or a pulling sensation.
6. Referred Pain: Sometimes, discomfort in the testicles can be referred pain from other areas, such as the lower back or abdomen.
Given that your symptoms began after a recent episode of masturbation, it is possible that the discomfort could be related to muscle strain or tension in the pelvic area. However, it is essential to monitor your symptoms closely.
When to Seek Help
You should seek medical attention if you experience any of the following:
- Severe or worsening pain
- Swelling of the testicle or scrotum
- Changes in the color of the testicle
- Fever or chills
- Nausea or vomiting
- Any discharge from the penis
- Persistent discomfort that does not improve
Conclusion
While your symptoms may not indicate an immediate emergency, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation. A physical examination, along with possibly an ultrasound, can help determine the underlying cause of your discomfort. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent complications and ensure your health and well-being. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms change, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider.
