Regarding the color of semen?
Hello doctor, I would like to ask you about something.
When I do it myself (DIY), the semen on my hand appears grayish-white (without any yellow), but when it gets on tissue paper, it has a slight yellow tint.
I do this about once a week.
I found online that yellowish semen is abnormal, while a slight yellow tint is considered normal.
Sometimes, when my libido is stronger, I might do it again the next day, and the color also has a bit of yellow, meaning it appears milky white with a slight yellow hue.
The internet says that if semen is retained for a longer time, it may turn yellow, but I do have regular ejaculation.
Based solely on color, I am unsure if grayish-white with a slight yellow tint is normal.
My body feels fine, and I do not experience any discomfort during or after the process.

Hello: A grayish-white semen with a slight yellow tint is considered normal and does not require concern.
However, if it is red, there may be an issue.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
When it comes to the color of semen, variations can be quite common and are often influenced by several factors, including hydration levels, frequency of ejaculation, and overall health. In your case, you mentioned that the semen appears grayish-white when it comes into contact with your hand, but shows a slight yellow tinge when it touches tissue. This is generally considered normal.
Semen is primarily composed of sperm cells and seminal fluid, which is produced by various glands in the male reproductive system, including the seminal vesicles and prostate gland. The typical color of healthy semen can range from a cloudy white to a slightly yellowish hue. A slight yellow tint can occur due to several reasons:
1. Concentration of Sperm: If ejaculation occurs less frequently, the semen may appear more concentrated, which can lead to a deeper color. Conversely, if you ejaculate more frequently, the semen may appear lighter in color.
2. Hydration Levels: Your hydration status can also affect the color of your semen. Dehydration can lead to more concentrated seminal fluid, which may appear darker or more yellow.
3. Diet and Lifestyle: Certain foods, supplements, and medications can influence the color of semen. For example, foods rich in carotenoids (like carrots) can impart a yellowish tint.
4. Age and Health: As men age, changes in the prostate and seminal vesicles can also affect the color and consistency of semen. Additionally, any underlying health issues, such as infections or inflammation, could potentially alter the appearance of semen.
In your case, since you mentioned that you do not experience any discomfort or unusual symptoms, and you have a regular pattern of ejaculation, the grayish-white color with a slight yellow tinge is likely within the normal range. It is also important to note that a small amount of yellow coloration in semen is generally not a cause for concern unless accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, swelling, or changes in sexual function.
If you ever notice significant changes in color, consistency, or experience discomfort, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation. They may perform tests to rule out any potential infections or other underlying conditions that could affect your reproductive health.
In summary, a grayish-white color with a slight yellow tinge in semen can be considered normal, especially given your regular ejaculation pattern and absence of discomfort. However, maintaining awareness of your body and any changes is crucial for overall health. If you have any concerns or notice any unusual symptoms, don't hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider for personalized advice and assessment.
