Pearly penile papules on the penile shaft?
A few months ago, I had a small wound near the base of my penis, close to the pubic hair area, which resembled an insect bite (though I am not sure if it was actually an insect bite).
After two or three weeks, the wound had not improved and remained the same.
Later, I traveled alone to another city and stayed at a hotel.
After showering, I used a towel to dry my genital area, and the next day, the wound that looked like a bite developed a bump similar to a pimple.
After about two weeks, while showering, I used a strong stream of water from the handheld showerhead to rinse off the white spot on the bump.
At that moment, it broke open and bled, but after two days, the wound completely healed, and there were no signs of any abnormalities.
Since then, the wound has been healed for four months without any issues.
Now, I am wondering if I still need to follow up regarding the initial problem.
Additionally, what did my symptoms indicate at that time? Were they just regular pimples, or could it have been something else? Even though everything has healed completely, do I still need to monitor the initial issue?

Nok: Hello, regarding your question, my personal opinion is as follows: it should be a localized infection.
As for the cause, it is difficult to determine; it could be due to common pathogens found in the environment.
Since it involves public items in a hotel, if you are concerned, you may consider going to a hospital for blood tests to check for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B.
I hope this information is helpful to you.

When it comes to understanding penile bumps and when to seek medical advice, it's important to consider several factors regarding the symptoms you've experienced. Based on your description, it seems you initially had a small wound at the base of your penis, which later developed into a bump that resembled a pimple. After some time, you attempted to clean the area, which resulted in a minor injury but eventually healed completely without any further issues.
From a medical perspective, the initial wound could have been caused by various factors, including an insect bite, friction, or irritation. The subsequent bump that developed may have been a follicular cyst, a small abscess, or even a benign skin condition such as a sebaceous cyst or a pimple. These types of bumps are generally harmless and can resolve on their own, as you experienced.
The fact that the bump healed completely and you have not noticed any recurrence or new symptoms over the past four months is a positive sign. In most cases, if a skin lesion resolves without complications, there is no need for further follow-up. However, it is essential to remain vigilant for any changes in the area, such as new bumps, persistent irritation, discharge, or any other unusual symptoms.
Here are some key points to consider regarding penile bumps and when to seek medical advice:
1. Duration and Changes: If a bump or lesion persists for more than a few weeks without improvement, or if it changes in size, color, or shape, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional.
2. Associated Symptoms: If you experience additional symptoms such as pain, itching, bleeding, or discharge, these could indicate an infection or another underlying condition that requires medical evaluation.
3. Sexual Health: If you are sexually active, it's important to be aware of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that can present with similar symptoms. If you have concerns about potential exposure to STIs, it is wise to get tested.
4. Self-Care and Hygiene: Maintaining good hygiene is crucial, especially in sensitive areas. Avoid using harsh soaps or scrubbing too vigorously, as this can lead to irritation or injury.
5. Professional Evaluation: If you are ever in doubt about a skin lesion or if it causes you anxiety, seeking the opinion of a dermatologist or urologist can provide peace of mind and appropriate management.
In summary, based on your account, it seems that the issue you experienced was likely benign and has resolved without complications. Since you have not had any further problems for four months, there is no immediate need for follow-up. However, if you notice any new symptoms or changes, do not hesitate to seek medical advice. Regular self-examinations and awareness of your body are key to maintaining your health and addressing any concerns promptly.
