Urination after DIY activities?

Hello Doctor, I previously asked you about experiencing difficulty urinating and a persistent urge to urinate for 10 to 20 minutes after DIY activities.
You mentioned that this might be caused by nerve stimulation.
I would like to ask: 1.
Should I avoid urinating immediately after ejaculation and wait for about 5 to 10 minutes before doing so? Would this help reduce the symptoms? 2.
If I want to apply a warm compress, which area should I target? Thank you for your answers!

D, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2014/10/20

D: 1.
It doesn't matter.
As long as the bladder is full, urination is possible.
2.
The penis and perineal area are completely covered.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.
Answers found online should only be used as a reference; if necessary, it is still important to seek medical attention at a healthcare facility.

Post-ejaculation urination issues can be quite common and may arise from various physiological factors, including nerve stimulation and muscle contractions that occur during ejaculation. It’s important to understand that the sensations you are experiencing, such as difficulty urinating or a persistent urge to urinate after ejaculation, can be influenced by the body's response to sexual activity.

1. Timing of Urination: It is indeed advisable to wait a few minutes after ejaculation before attempting to urinate. This allows your body to return to its baseline state, reducing the likelihood of experiencing discomfort or urgency. The pelvic floor muscles and the bladder may still be in a heightened state of activity immediately following ejaculation, which can lead to the sensations you described. By allowing some time for these muscles to relax, you may find that urination becomes easier and more comfortable.

2. Heat Application: If you choose to use heat to alleviate discomfort, applying a warm compress to the lower abdomen or pelvic area can be beneficial. This can help relax the muscles in that region and may ease any tension that is contributing to your symptoms. Be sure to use a comfortable temperature to avoid burns, and limit the application to about 15-20 minutes at a time.

In addition to these tips, it's essential to consider other factors that may contribute to your symptoms. For instance, hydration levels can play a role in urinary function. Ensuring you are well-hydrated can help dilute urine and potentially reduce irritation in the bladder.
If the symptoms persist or worsen, it would be prudent to consult with a healthcare professional. They can evaluate for any underlying conditions that may be contributing to your post-ejaculation urinary issues, such as prostatitis or other pelvic floor dysfunctions.
Moreover, lifestyle modifications, such as practicing relaxation techniques or pelvic floor exercises, might also be beneficial. These exercises can strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, potentially improving urinary control and reducing discomfort.

In summary, waiting a few minutes after ejaculation before urinating and applying heat to the lower abdomen can help alleviate your symptoms. However, if these issues continue, seeking medical advice is crucial to rule out any underlying conditions and to receive tailored treatment options.
