Pearly penile papules

Doctor, I would like to ask if it is possible to have pearly penile papules on the side of the urethral opening? I noticed a few small, evenly arranged bumps that are off-white in color.
They are not very noticeable, and I have not engaged in sexual intercourse yet.
Additionally, the bumps are not painful or itchy.

Hello, the pearl glands are generally located in the coronal sulcus.
If you are unsure, it is advisable to seek medical examination.
If there are any unclear aspects, feel free to ask again, and we can further discuss and research together.

Pearly penile papules (PPP) are small, benign growths that typically appear around the glans (the head) of the penis. They are often described as small, white or flesh-colored bumps that are arranged in a row, resembling a string of pearls. It is important to note that these papules are a normal anatomical variation and are not considered a sexually transmitted infection or a sign of any underlying health issue.

The exact cause of pearly penile papules is not fully understood, but they are thought to be a result of normal skin development. They are most commonly seen in young adult males, particularly those who are uncircumcised. The presence of these papules is not associated with any pain, itching, or discomfort, which aligns with your description of the bumps being painless and not causing any irritation.

In your case, since you mentioned that you have not engaged in sexual activity and that the bumps are not painful or itchy, it is quite possible that what you are observing is indeed pearly penile papules. They are harmless and do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress or concern for cosmetic reasons.
However, it is always wise to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis, especially if you notice any changes in the appearance of the bumps, if they become painful, or if you develop any other symptoms. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may provide reassurance or recommend treatment options if necessary.

In summary, pearly penile papules are a common and benign condition that many men experience. They are not indicative of any disease or infection, and their presence is normal. If you have any lingering concerns or if the appearance of the bumps changes, seeking advice from a urologist or dermatologist would be beneficial. They can provide you with accurate information and peace of mind regarding your condition.
