There are small white bumps on the pubic area?

I have small white bumps on my pubic area that are somewhat itchy.
I saw a urologist about a month and a half ago, who diagnosed it as tinea cruris.
After three weeks with no improvement, I visited a dermatologist who said it was eczema.
It's been another month, and while the itching has decreased, the bumps are still present.
What should I do next?

More Info

When it comes to white bumps on the pubic hair follicles, there are several potential causes and treatment options to consider. Based on your description, it sounds like you have been experiencing these bumps for about two months, and despite seeing two different doctors, the condition has not fully resolved. Let's explore the possible causes, treatment options, and additional considerations.

Possible Causes
1. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can lead to small, white, pus-filled bumps. It can be caused by bacterial or fungal infections, irritation from shaving, or even friction from tight clothing.

2. Sebaceous Cysts: These are non-cancerous lumps that can form under the skin when sebaceous glands become blocked. They are usually painless and may appear as small, white bumps.

3. Molluscum Contagiosum: This is a viral infection that can cause small, raised, pearly-white bumps. It is usually harmless and often resolves on its own, but it can take time.

4. Eczema or Dermatitis: If the bumps are itchy and have been diagnosed as eczema, this could be a skin condition that causes inflammation and irritation, leading to the formation of bumps.

5. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps in the genital area.

Treatment Options
1. Topical Treatments: Depending on the diagnosis, your doctor may prescribe topical antifungals, antibiotics, or corticosteroids to reduce inflammation and treat any underlying infection. For example, if folliculitis is suspected, an antibiotic cream may be effective.

2. Oral Medications: If the condition is severe or does not respond to topical treatments, oral antibiotics or antifungals may be necessary.

3. Proper Hygiene: Maintaining good hygiene in the genital area is crucial. This includes regular washing with mild soap and water, avoiding harsh chemicals, and wearing breathable, loose-fitting clothing to reduce irritation.

4. Avoiding Irritants: If shaving or waxing is contributing to the issue, consider stopping these practices temporarily to see if the condition improves. If you must shave, use a clean, sharp razor and consider using a shaving cream designed for sensitive skin.

5. Moisturizers: If eczema is the diagnosis, using a fragrance-free moisturizer can help soothe the skin and reduce itching.

6. Follow-Up: Since you have seen two doctors without complete resolution, it may be beneficial to seek a third opinion, preferably from a dermatologist who specializes in skin conditions. They may provide a more accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plan.

Additional Considerations
- Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While it can be tempting to self-diagnose based on internet research, it is essential to rely on professional medical advice, especially for conditions in sensitive areas like the genital region.

- Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in the bumps, such as size, color, or associated symptoms (like increased itching or pain). This information can be helpful for your healthcare provider.

- Lifestyle Factors: Consider any lifestyle factors that may contribute to skin issues, such as stress, diet, or underlying health conditions. Addressing these may improve your overall skin health.

In conclusion, while the white bumps on your pubic hair follicles may be benign, it is crucial to obtain a proper diagnosis and treatment plan from a qualified healthcare professional. If your symptoms persist or worsen, do not hesitate to seek further medical advice.
