There is a burning sensation near the glans?
After having lunch today, I felt a burning sensation near the glans, more towards the left side, and there was a slight stinging inside the glans.
When I urinate, I don't experience any burning or stinging, but the symptoms disappear after a while.
What could be the issue? Will it recur?

Hello, you may be experiencing a localized infection.
It could be urethritis or cystitis.
I recommend getting a urinalysis to check for infection.

More Info
Experiencing a burning sensation near the glans (the head of the penis) can be concerning and may arise from various causes. Given your description of the symptoms, it is essential to consider several potential factors that could contribute to this sensation.
1. Irritation or Inflammation: One of the most common causes of burning sensations in the genital area is irritation or inflammation. This could be due to friction, allergic reactions to soaps, detergents, or personal care products, or even from tight clothing. If you have recently changed any products you use in that area, this could be a possible explanation.
2. Infections: Another significant cause of burning sensations is infections. Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans), sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like herpes or gonorrhea, or urinary tract infections (UTIs) can lead to discomfort. Although you mentioned that urination does not cause burning, it is still possible for an infection to be present without typical symptoms.
3. Dermatological Conditions: Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis can also affect the genital area, leading to burning sensations. These conditions may cause dryness, redness, and irritation, which could explain your symptoms.
4. Nerve Sensitivity: Sometimes, nerve sensitivity or neuropathy can cause unusual sensations, including burning or tingling. This could be related to various factors, including diabetes or other systemic conditions.
5. Psychological Factors: Stress and anxiety can sometimes manifest as physical symptoms, including burning sensations. If you have been under stress, this could be a contributing factor.
Regarding your concern about whether the symptoms will recur, it is difficult to predict without a proper diagnosis. If the burning sensation is transient and resolves on its own, it may not be a cause for immediate concern. However, if it recurs or worsens, it would be prudent to seek medical attention.
Recommendations:
- Observation: Keep track of when the symptoms occur and any potential triggers. Note any changes in personal care products, activities, or diet that coincide with the onset of symptoms.
- Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene in the genital area, using mild, unscented soap and ensuring the area is dry after washing.
- Avoid Irritants: If you suspect that certain products may be causing irritation, discontinue their use and see if symptoms improve.
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: If the burning sensation persists, recurs, or is accompanied by other symptoms (such as discharge, itching, or pain), it is essential to consult a healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation. They may perform tests to rule out infections or other underlying conditions.
In conclusion, while the burning sensation you are experiencing may not be immediately alarming, it is essential to monitor your symptoms and seek medical advice if they persist or worsen. Early intervention can help address any underlying issues and provide relief from discomfort.
