Is it good to take Zhengji Xiaozhi Pills for an outbreak of internal hemorrhoids?

I have been troubled by internal hemorrhoid bleeding for many years and have visited the hospital for treatment 2-3 times.
The last time I underwent a ligation procedure was so painful that I couldn't bear it, so for the past couple of years, whenever it flares up, I rely on topical medications and take Zhengji Xiaozhi pills (which help alleviate the symptoms).
However, the bleeding has been intermittent and continues to bother me.
Additionally, I have a tendency towards anemia and am afraid of the side effects of medications, so I really want to find a good doctor to address this issue again (based on my last experience, I am very fearful of pain, which causes me a lot of anxiety).
Can you recommend a well-reviewed doctor in Taichung or suggest other methods to resolve my concerns? (I feel like crying; it’s really hard to deal with hemorrhoids!)

Dr. Xu Kaixi reply Surgery

Internal hemorrhoids primarily cause bleeding due to poor local circulation leading to venous engorgement and inflammation.
Dietary modifications should include avoiding spicy foods and excessive alcoholic beverages.
Additionally, it is important to prevent constipation, avoid prolonged sitting, and manage fatigue and stress through lifestyle changes.
After bowel movements, warm sitz baths can be used to promote circulation.
If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical intervention may be considered, and patients can seek surgery at major hospitals such as Chung Shan Medical University, China Medical University, or Taichung Veterans General Hospital.

Zhengji Hemorrhoid Pills, a traditional Chinese medicine, is often used for the treatment of hemorrhoids, including internal hemorrhoids. These pills typically contain a combination of herbal ingredients that are believed to help alleviate symptoms such as pain, itching, and bleeding associated with hemorrhoids. While many users report relief from their symptoms, the effectiveness of Zhengji Hemorrhoid Pills can vary from person to person.

For internal hemorrhoids, which are located inside the rectum and are usually not visible, the primary symptoms include painless bleeding during bowel movements, discomfort, and sometimes a feeling of fullness in the rectal area. Zhengji Hemorrhoid Pills may help reduce inflammation and promote healing, potentially leading to a decrease in bleeding episodes. However, it is essential to note that while these pills can provide symptomatic relief, they may not address the underlying causes of hemorrhoids, such as chronic constipation, straining during bowel movements, or prolonged sitting.

Given your history of recurrent bleeding and the discomfort associated with your previous surgical interventions, it is crucial to approach this condition with a comprehensive strategy. Here are some considerations:
1. Dietary Changes: Incorporating a high-fiber diet can help soften stools and reduce straining during bowel movements. Foods rich in fiber include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Staying well-hydrated is also essential.

2. Topical Treatments: In addition to oral medications like Zhengji Hemorrhoid Pills, topical treatments such as creams or ointments containing hydrocortisone or witch hazel may provide additional relief from itching and discomfort.

3. Minimally Invasive Procedures: If conservative treatments do not provide sufficient relief, you might consider discussing minimally invasive procedures with a qualified healthcare provider. Options such as rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, or infrared coagulation can be effective for treating internal hemorrhoids with less pain and recovery time compared to traditional surgery.

4. Consultation with a Specialist: It is advisable to seek a consultation with a gastroenterologist or a colorectal surgeon who specializes in hemorrhoid treatment. They can provide a thorough evaluation and recommend the most appropriate treatment options based on your specific situation. In Taichung, you can look for reputable hospitals or clinics that specialize in gastrointestinal disorders or colorectal surgery. Online reviews and recommendations from friends or family can also guide you in finding a qualified physician.

5. Managing Anxiety and Pain: Given your previous painful experiences, it is understandable to feel anxious about further treatments. Discussing your concerns with your healthcare provider can help them tailor the treatment approach to minimize discomfort. They may also suggest pain management strategies or sedation options during procedures.

In summary, while Zhengji Hemorrhoid Pills may provide some relief for internal hemorrhoids, a multifaceted approach that includes dietary changes, topical treatments, and possibly consultation with a specialist will likely yield the best results. Addressing both the symptoms and the underlying causes of your condition is essential for long-term relief. Remember, you are not alone in this, and seeking help from a qualified professional can lead to effective management of your symptoms.
