Clitoral issues?
Hello, I recently noticed small white bumps on my clitoris while cleaning my private area.
I haven't seen them before and I'm not sure if they were there previously.
They don't hurt or itch, and I can't squeeze anything out of them.
Could this be inflammation or something else? I would prefer not to go to the hospital; is there anything I can do? Thank you for your response.

More Info
When it comes to white bumps on the clitoris, it is important to understand that there can be several potential causes, and while some may be benign, others may require medical attention. The presence of white bumps in the genital area can be concerning, especially if they are new or if there are changes in your body. Here are some common causes of white bumps on the clitoris and potential home remedies, as well as when to seek medical advice.
Common Causes of White Bumps on the Clitoris
1. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that are actually sebaceous glands without hair follicles. They are completely normal and harmless, often appearing on the labia and clitoris. They do not require treatment.
2. Pearly Penile Papules: Although more common in males, similar structures can appear in females. These are small, dome-shaped bumps that are also benign and do not require any treatment.
3. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur if hair follicles become infected or irritated. It may present as small, red or white bumps and can sometimes be itchy or painful.
4. Cysts: Sebaceous cysts can develop in the genital area. These are typically painless lumps filled with a fatty substance. If they become infected, they may become red, swollen, and painful.
5. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps. They may be itchy or uncomfortable and require medical evaluation.
6. Yeast Infection: While typically associated with itching and discharge, a yeast infection can sometimes present with white bumps or patches in the genital area.
Home Remedies
If the white bumps are not causing any discomfort, pain, or other symptoms, you may consider the following home remedies:
- Warm Compress: Applying a warm compress can help soothe any inflammation or irritation in the area.
- Good Hygiene: Keeping the area clean and dry can help prevent infections. Use mild, unscented soap and avoid harsh chemicals.
- Avoid Irritants: Stay away from scented products, douches, or other irritants that could exacerbate the condition.
- Loose Clothing: Wearing loose-fitting underwear and clothing can help reduce friction and irritation.
When to Seek Medical Attention
While many causes of white bumps are benign, it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:
- Changes in the size, shape, or color of the bumps.
- The appearance of new symptoms such as pain, itching, or discharge.
- If the bumps persist or worsen over time.
- Any concerns about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or other conditions.
Conclusion
In summary, while white bumps on the clitoris can be benign, it is essential to monitor any changes and maintain good hygiene. If you are uncomfortable or unsure about the bumps, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Avoiding medical care may lead to complications if the bumps are indicative of a more serious condition. Remember, your health is paramount, and seeking professional advice is always a wise choice.
