Frenulum of the foreskin was cut?
Doctor, two weeks ago I underwent a circumcision.
During the procedure, the doctor asked me if I wanted to have the frenulum cut as well, mentioning that vigorous sexual activity could lead to tearing.
I didn't know what to say, so I asked my dad to talk to him, and as a result, they cut it.
Now, almost three weeks later, I've been researching online and found that cutting the frenulum can negatively affect sexual life, erections, appearance, and more.
I'm really heartbroken.
I can't even focus on studying for next year's major exams.
I feel like my life is turning gray...
I also saw that someone in China won a lawsuit against a hospital for cutting their frenulum.
Please help me; I feel so helpless and scared right now.
Is there any way to remedy this? I'm so sad that I can't even cry anymore...

Hello, student.
The frenulum of the foreskin can either be preserved or excised.
Each physician will assess the situation based on the patient's condition.
Generally, the impact on erection is not as severe as some claims on the internet suggest; those statements tend to be exaggerated.
As for whether you can preserve it or must have it removed, I cannot say for certain.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.
Online responses should only be taken as references; it is still necessary to seek medical attention at a healthcare facility.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare Taitung Hospital cares about you.

The concern regarding the removal of the frenulum, also known as the frenulum of the prepuce, during circumcision is understandable, especially given the emotional and psychological impact it can have on an individual. The frenulum plays a significant role in sexual health and function, and its removal can lead to various concerns, including changes in sexual sensation, erectile function, and overall sexual satisfaction.
Firstly, it is essential to understand the anatomy and function of the frenulum. The frenulum is a band of tissue located on the underside of the penis that connects the glans (the head of the penis) to the shaft. It is rich in nerve endings and contributes to sexual pleasure during stimulation. When the frenulum is removed, some individuals report a decrease in sensitivity, which can affect sexual arousal and satisfaction.
In terms of recovery, it is important to note that the body has a remarkable ability to heal. After frenulum removal, there may be a period of adjustment as the body heals and as you become accustomed to the changes. While some individuals may experience a temporary decrease in sensitivity or changes in sexual function, many find that these issues improve over time as they heal and adapt to the changes.
If you are experiencing significant distress or anxiety regarding your sexual health after the procedure, it is crucial to seek support. Speaking with a healthcare professional, such as a urologist or a sexual health specialist, can provide you with personalized advice and reassurance. They can assess your situation, discuss any concerns you have, and provide guidance on what to expect during the healing process.
Additionally, engaging in open communication with your partner about your feelings and experiences can also be beneficial. This can help alleviate some of the emotional burden and foster intimacy, which is important for sexual health.
In terms of potential remedies or treatments, there are various options available depending on your specific concerns. If you find that sensitivity is reduced, there are topical treatments and therapies that may help enhance sensation. For psychological distress, counseling or therapy can be beneficial in addressing feelings of anxiety or depression related to sexual health.
It is also worth noting that while some individuals may report negative experiences following frenulum removal, others may not experience any significant changes in their sexual function or satisfaction. Each person's experience is unique, and it is essential to focus on your healing journey rather than comparing it to others.
In conclusion, while the removal of the frenulum can lead to concerns about sexual health, many individuals find that they can adapt and recover over time. Seeking professional support, engaging in open communication, and focusing on your healing can help you navigate this challenging experience. Remember that your feelings are valid, and it is okay to seek help and guidance as you work through this process.
