A slight increase in breast milk production does not indicate pregnancy, right?
My girlfriend's period is five days late.
We have had intercourse, and she has done tests.
She had a cold and took medication for two days.
She also drank a few bottles of vending machine drinks (could this affect anything?).
Since this Monday, she has been experiencing slight breast tenderness, but it's very minimal.
The drinks were consumed this week.
What could be going on? Is there a possibility of pregnancy? We have done tests, and during intercourse, we used protection and did not have any breakage after ejaculation.

1.
If condoms were used consistently, pregnancy is unlikely.
2.
Regular beverages should not affect menstruation.
3.
A delayed period is likely due to irregular cycles.
However, it is recommended to take a pregnancy test to confirm whether pregnancy has occurred.

Breast tenderness can indeed be a sign of pregnancy, but it is not definitive on its own. It is essential to consider the context of your girlfriend's situation, including her menstrual cycle, any recent sexual activity, and other symptoms she may be experiencing.
From your description, it seems that your girlfriend's period is five days late, which can be a common early sign of pregnancy. However, menstrual irregularities can occur for various reasons, including stress, hormonal imbalances, illness, or changes in lifestyle. The fact that she has been feeling breast tenderness and experiencing some milk production (even if minimal) could suggest hormonal changes, which can happen during pregnancy or due to other factors.
You mentioned that your girlfriend had unprotected sex but also used protection during intercourse, which is a critical factor. If the condom did not break and was used correctly, the likelihood of pregnancy is significantly reduced. However, no contraceptive method is 100% effective, and there is always a small chance of failure. If she is concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, it would be wise for her to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are most accurate when taken after a missed period.
Regarding the medications she took for her cold, most over-the-counter medications do not typically affect pregnancy tests or cause significant harm if she were to be pregnant. However, it is always best to consult with a healthcare provider regarding any medications taken during this time, especially if pregnancy is a possibility.
The consumption of sugary drinks or other beverages is unlikely to impact the results of a pregnancy test or cause breast tenderness. However, maintaining a balanced diet and staying hydrated is essential for overall health, especially if she is experiencing any symptoms.
If the home pregnancy test is negative and her period does not arrive soon, it may be beneficial for her to consult with a healthcare provider. They can perform a more sensitive blood test to determine if she is pregnant and evaluate any other potential causes for her symptoms, such as hormonal imbalances or other health concerns.
In summary, while breast tenderness can indicate pregnancy, it is not a definitive sign. Given the circumstances you described, the best course of action is to take a home pregnancy test and consult with a healthcare professional if there are any ongoing concerns or if her period does not return. It is essential to approach this situation with care and seek medical advice for the most accurate information and support.
