Brown discharge

I previously asked a question because my period was late, so I received an injection to induce menstruation on the 19th.
However, last night I noticed a few drops of brown discharge.
I thought my period was starting, but then nothing else happened.
This morning, I also saw a few drops of brown discharge, and since then, everything has been normal; I don't even feel any signs that my period is coming.
Could this indicate that my menstrual period is about to start, or could I be pregnant?

Nìmíng, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2015/10/22

Based on your description, it is not possible to determine whether your menstrual period is approaching or if you are pregnant.
It is recommended to seek medical examination or take a pregnancy test.
Sincerely, Dr.

Brown discharge can be a confusing symptom for many women, especially when trying to determine whether it indicates the onset of menstruation or a potential pregnancy. In your case, the presence of brown discharge after receiving a menstrual induction injection raises several considerations.

Firstly, brown discharge often occurs when blood takes longer to exit the body. This can happen at the beginning or end of a menstrual period, leading to a brownish color due to oxidation. If you have received an injection to induce menstruation, it is possible that the brown discharge you are experiencing is a sign that your period is about to start. However, it is also important to consider the timing of your menstrual cycle and any other symptoms you may be experiencing.

If your last menstrual period was delayed, and you have had unprotected intercourse, there is a possibility that the brown discharge could be an early sign of pregnancy. Some women experience implantation bleeding, which can occur when a fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. This type of bleeding is typically light and may appear as brown or pink discharge. However, implantation bleeding usually occurs around the time your period would be due, which could align with your current situation.

Given that you mentioned the brown discharge has not progressed into a full menstrual flow and you do not feel typical premenstrual symptoms, it may be wise to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced after a fertilized egg implants in the uterus. If the test is positive, it would indicate pregnancy, while a negative result could suggest that your period is simply delayed.

In summary, brown discharge can indicate either the onset of menstruation or early pregnancy. Since you have received a menstrual induction injection, it is likely that your body is responding to that treatment. However, if you suspect pregnancy, taking a home pregnancy test would provide clarity. If you continue to experience unusual symptoms or have concerns about your reproductive health, it is always best to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and guidance. They can provide further evaluation and support based on your specific situation.
