The penis appears pearl-like?
Hello Doctor, I am in the ninth grade this year.
I saw something called pearly penile papules online, but upon closer examination of my penis, I noticed that I have similar small growths on the sides of my penis.
They are small, and there are several areas with these growths; there is also a cluster at the base of my penis.
They are spaced apart, but not very far, and there are quite a few of them (approximately 20-30 in one area).
I heard that pearly penile papules are found on the glans, and I also have two or three small ones on the glans and foreskin.
Additionally, there are many on the shaft as mentioned before, and I also have some under my pubic hair (they seem to resemble hair follicles with some pubic hair growing above them).
They are not painful or itchy.
Is there anything to be concerned about? This has been going on for quite a while.
Thank you, Doctor.

Hello, the cholesteatoma is located near the coronal sulcus.
If you're unsure, it's best to seek medical attention.
The issue above the scrotum is related to other problems.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.

Dear Patient,
Thank you for reaching out with your concerns regarding the pearly penile papules (PPP) you have observed. It’s understandable to feel anxious when noticing changes in your body, especially in sensitive areas. Let’s clarify what pearly penile papules are and what you should know about them.
Pearly penile papules are small, dome-shaped, white or flesh-colored bumps that typically appear around the corona (the ridge) of the glans (the head) of the penis. They are a normal anatomical variation and are not considered a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or a disease. They are benign and do not require treatment unless they cause you distress or concern. The presence of these papules is quite common and is estimated to occur in a significant percentage of males, particularly those who are uncircumcised.
From your description, it seems that you are observing multiple small bumps on various parts of your penis, including the shaft and the area under the pubic hair. While PPP typically appears on the glans, the bumps you are describing could potentially be something else, such as sebaceous cysts or folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles), especially if they are located in areas where hair grows. These conditions are also generally harmless but can sometimes require medical attention if they become inflamed or infected.
Here are a few key points to consider regarding your situation:
1. No Pain or Itching: The fact that the bumps are not painful or itchy is a good sign. Pain or discomfort could indicate an infection or another condition that may need evaluation.
2. Observation: If the bumps remain unchanged in size, color, and sensation, they are likely benign. However, if you notice any changes, such as increased size, redness, or discomfort, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional.
3. Hygiene: Maintaining good hygiene is essential. Regular washing with mild soap and water can help keep the area clean and may prevent any potential irritation.
4. Avoid Picking: It’s important not to pick at or squeeze the bumps, as this can lead to irritation or infection.
5. Consultation: If you are still concerned or if the bumps change in appearance, I recommend scheduling an appointment with a dermatologist or a urologist. They can provide a thorough examination and confirm whether what you are experiencing is indeed pearly penile papules or something else.
6. Education: Understanding your body is crucial. If you have further questions about sexual health or any other concerns, do not hesitate to ask your healthcare provider. They can provide you with accurate information and resources.
In summary, while pearly penile papules are a common and harmless condition, it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional for a definitive diagnosis, especially if you have any doubts or if the appearance of the bumps changes. Your health and peace of mind are important, and seeking professional advice is a proactive step in managing your health.
Best wishes for your health and well-being.
