The lump suddenly increased in size and is painful?
In April 2014, I underwent surgery for rectal prolapse.
After that, I discovered an irregular hard mass growing inward next to the anus.
It is painful when pressed, but it is not visible externally.
I experienced intermittent pain for a while and consulted a doctor, but they could not identify anything significant.
Initially, I was prescribed laxatives and pain relievers, but they only provided pain relief.
I took them for almost two months.
In August and September of this year, I started taking them again, but only for a few days in September because the pain was not severe enough to continue.
I have noticed changes in my bowel habits; the frequency has increased, but the stools are normal.
Occasionally, I experience slight difficulty during bowel movements, but it happens infrequently.
Recently, due to a cold, I took propolis, and the previously mild mass suddenly started to hurt.
Today, while showering, I noticed that it has enlarged and protruded into a significant lump.
The color has also darkened, and when I touch it, the edges feel hard while the center is somewhat soft.
It is painful when pressed.
I have a history of allergies, and my skin tends to become inflamed and develop lesions with even the slightest irritant.
I am very scared and unsure which specialist to consult.
Please help me, thank you!

When it comes to sudden growth and pain associated with a rectal lump, it is essential to approach the situation with caution and seek appropriate medical attention. Based on your description, it seems that you have been experiencing discomfort and changes in the lump's characteristics over time, which raises several important considerations.
Firstly, the lump you are describing, which has grown in size and changed in color, could be indicative of various conditions, some of which may require prompt medical intervention. Given your history of surgery for rectal prolapse and the subsequent development of this lump, it is crucial to have a thorough evaluation by a healthcare professional. The fact that the lump is painful, irregular in shape, and has changed in color suggests that it may be inflamed or infected, which warrants further investigation.
In terms of what type of specialist to consult, a colorectal surgeon or a gastroenterologist would be the most appropriate choices. These specialists are trained to handle conditions related to the rectum and anus, and they can perform a physical examination, possibly including imaging studies or a biopsy if necessary, to determine the nature of the lump. It is important to communicate all your symptoms, including the pain, changes in bowel habits, and any other relevant medical history, as this information will assist the doctor in making an accurate diagnosis.
Additionally, the sudden increase in pain and size of the lump following your recent illness and the use of propolis may suggest a possible inflammatory response. Allergies and sensitivities can sometimes exacerbate underlying conditions, leading to increased swelling and discomfort. It is essential to monitor any other symptoms you may experience, such as fever, changes in bowel movements, or any unusual discharge, as these could provide further clues to your healthcare provider.
In the meantime, managing your symptoms is important. Over-the-counter pain relief medications may help alleviate discomfort, but it is advisable to avoid self-medicating without consulting a healthcare professional, especially if you have a history of allergies or other medical conditions. Maintaining a healthy diet and staying hydrated can also support your overall well-being and digestive health.
Lastly, while it is natural to feel anxious about changes in your body, it is important to remember that many conditions can be effectively managed with timely medical intervention. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to addressing any potential issues and preventing complications. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to schedule an appointment with a colorectal specialist as soon as possible to discuss your symptoms and undergo a thorough evaluation.
In summary, sudden growth and pain of a rectal lump require prompt medical attention. Consult a colorectal surgeon or gastroenterologist, provide a detailed account of your symptoms, and be proactive in seeking care. Early intervention can lead to better outcomes and peace of mind regarding your health.
