Glans issues?

Hello, about two years ago, I noticed several white bumps (between the glans and the urethra) that are not painful or itchy (approximately the size of a grain of rice, about one-sixth of it).
They have remained the same size since I discovered them two years ago, without any changes.
I am quite anxious about this, and I have never undergone a circumcision.
I kindly ask for your response, thank you.

Sam, 30~39 year old female. Ask Date: 2015/12/11

Hello, it is difficult to determine.
It could be a pearly penile papule, another type of tumor, an infection, or tissue hyperplasia.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.
Answers found online should only be used as a reference; if necessary, it is important to seek medical attention at a healthcare facility.

Understanding white bumps on the penis can be a source of concern for many individuals, especially when they appear suddenly or without any accompanying symptoms such as pain or itching. Based on your description, it sounds like you have noticed small white bumps located beneath the glans (the head of the penis) and between the urethra. These bumps have remained unchanged in size and appearance over the past two years, which is a positive sign.

There are several potential causes for white bumps in this area, and it is essential to differentiate between benign conditions and those that may require medical attention. Here are some common causes:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, dome-shaped bumps that typically appear around the corona (the ridge) of the glans. They are a normal anatomical variation and are not associated with any disease or infection. Pearly penile papules are harmless and do not require treatment.

2. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that are actually enlarged sebaceous (oil) glands. They are common and can appear on the penis, scrotum, and other areas of the body. Like pearly penile papules, Fordyce spots are benign and do not require treatment.

3. Folliculitis: This condition occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to infection or irritation. While it can cause red or white bumps, it typically presents with discomfort or itching, which you have not experienced.

4. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), genital warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps. They may be raised or flat and can sometimes be itchy or uncomfortable. If you notice any changes in the appearance of the bumps or develop new symptoms, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider.

5. Lichen Planus: This is an inflammatory condition that can affect the skin and mucous membranes, including the genital area. It may present as white patches or bumps and can be associated with discomfort. If you have any concerns about this condition, a dermatologist or urologist can provide a proper diagnosis.

6. Other Conditions: There are other less common conditions that could cause white bumps, such as molluscum contagiosum (a viral infection) or other dermatological issues. If the bumps change in appearance, become painful, or if you develop any other symptoms, it is essential to seek medical advice.

Given that the bumps you described have not changed in size or appearance over two years and are not causing any discomfort, they are likely benign. However, it is always best to consult with a healthcare professional for a thorough examination and accurate diagnosis. A urologist or dermatologist can provide reassurance and, if necessary, perform tests to rule out any underlying conditions.

In conclusion, while the presence of white bumps on the penis can be alarming, many cases are benign and do not require treatment. However, if you have any concerns or if there are changes in the bumps, it is advisable to seek medical attention for peace of mind and appropriate care. Regular self-examinations and awareness of any changes in your genital area are essential for maintaining sexual health.
