The firmness of a woman's breasts?

Hello doctor, may I ask how soft a woman's breasts should be? My girlfriend's breasts are somewhat firm, but not really hard, just not soft.
She is currently eighteen years old; does this mean they will still grow? Why might they be like this? She is a C cup and quite perky, but just not very soft.
She mentioned that she was hit in the chest during elementary school; could that be related? Thank you.

Niming, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/01/15

Dear Anonymous: 1.
It is unrelated to childhood injuries.
2.
The softness or hardness of the breasts is related to the proportion of fat in the breast tissue, which varies from person to person.
Eastern women typically have denser and firmer breasts, but with the westernization of diets, the proportion of fat in the breast tissue of Eastern women is increasingly resembling that of Western women.

Understanding breast firmness in young women is a topic that often raises questions, especially during the developmental years of adolescence. At the age of 18, many young women are still experiencing changes in their breast tissue due to hormonal fluctuations and the natural maturation process of their bodies.
Breast tissue is composed of glandular tissue, fat, and connective tissue. The firmness or softness of breasts can vary significantly among individuals and can be influenced by several factors, including genetics, hormonal levels, body composition, and previous injuries. In your girlfriend's case, having a C cup size and experiencing a degree of firmness is not unusual. Breasts can feel firmer due to a higher proportion of glandular tissue compared to fatty tissue, which is common in younger women.

The incident of being hit in the chest during childhood could potentially have an impact on breast tissue, but it is unlikely to cause long-term changes in firmness. Trauma to the breast can lead to localized changes in tissue, such as fat necrosis or scar tissue, but these are typically not significant enough to alter the overall softness or firmness of the breast in a noticeable way. If there were no immediate issues following the incident, such as severe pain or visible deformity, it is likely that any effects would have resolved over time.

Hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle can also affect breast firmness. Many women experience breast tenderness and swelling due to hormonal fluctuations, particularly in the luteal phase of their cycle (the time between ovulation and the start of menstruation). This can make the breasts feel fuller and firmer temporarily.
As for whether your girlfriend's breasts will continue to grow or change, it is important to note that breast development can continue into the early twenties. Factors such as weight changes, hormonal levels, and overall health can influence breast size and firmness. If she is concerned about the firmness of her breasts or any changes she notices, it may be beneficial for her to consult with a healthcare provider. They can provide personalized insights and reassurance based on her medical history and physical examination.

In summary, breast firmness varies widely among individuals and can be influenced by a multitude of factors. At 18 years old, your girlfriend is still within the range of normal breast development, and her breast firmness is likely a natural characteristic of her body. If there are any concerns about changes in breast tissue, it is always best to seek professional medical advice for peace of mind and proper evaluation.
