Discharge, fishy odor?
I have noticed over the past two months that after using the restroom, I have been secreting a mucus-like, light green discharge.
Sometimes, I also notice a white discharge when urinating, which occurs frequently.
It has a somewhat foul odor, reminiscent of a condom but not exactly the same, with a fishy smell, especially during sexual intercourse with my boyfriend, where the odor is stronger.
However, I do not experience any itching or burning sensations, just the fishy smell.
Could this situation indicate an infection? Should I seek medical attention, or could it be due to prolonged condom use? I always use condoms during sexual intercourse with my boyfriend.

Experiencing unusual discharge and odor can be concerning, and it's important to understand the potential implications of these symptoms. Based on your description, the presence of a greenish mucus-like discharge and a foul odor, especially during urination and after sexual intercourse, may indicate an underlying issue that warrants further investigation.
Firstly, the characteristics of the discharge you described—greenish color and foul odor—are often associated with infections. Common causes of abnormal vaginal or urethral discharge include bacterial vaginosis, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, and yeast infections. Although you mentioned that there is no itching or burning, which are common symptoms of yeast infections, the presence of a strong odor and unusual color suggests that it could be a bacterial infection or an STI.
Bacterial vaginosis is characterized by an imbalance of normal bacteria in the vagina, leading to a fishy odor and a grayish or greenish discharge. This condition is not classified as an STI but can be influenced by sexual activity. On the other hand, STIs can present with various symptoms, including unusual discharge, odor, and sometimes pain or discomfort during urination or intercourse.
The fact that you are using condoms consistently is a positive step in reducing the risk of STIs; however, it is still possible to develop infections that are not sexually transmitted. Additionally, the use of condoms can sometimes lead to irritation or allergic reactions, which might also contribute to changes in discharge or odor.
Given the symptoms you are experiencing, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough examination, including a pelvic exam and laboratory tests, to determine the cause of your symptoms. They may take samples of the discharge for analysis to identify any infections or imbalances that need to be addressed.
In summary, while the absence of itching or burning may seem reassuring, the unusual discharge and odor you are experiencing are significant enough to warrant a medical evaluation. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial in managing any potential infections and preventing complications. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health, especially regarding symptoms that could indicate an infection. Please consider scheduling an appointment with a healthcare provider to discuss your symptoms and receive appropriate care.
