Granular lesions on organs
Hello,
Q1: I recently noticed several small raised bumps on the surface of my organ near the back (pubic area).
They are not painful or itchy and resemble something blocked or like pimples, but I can't squeeze anything out of them.
They feel a bit hard and there are quite a few of them.
Q2: After ejaculation, I noticed red, solid clumps in my semen, about the size of salt, ranging from 1 to 3 pieces.
What could be the cause of this? Thank you.
Niming, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/01/22

1.
It could be folliculitis or something similar.
2.

More Info
When it comes to granular bumps in the urogenital area and the presence of red clots in semen, there are several potential causes and concerns that should be addressed.
Granular Bumps in the Urogenital Area
The appearance of small, hard bumps on the surface of the genital area, particularly near the pubic region, can be attributed to a variety of conditions. Here are some common possibilities:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, benign bumps that are often found around the corona of the glans penis. They are normal anatomical variations and are not associated with any disease or health risk.
2. Sebaceous Cysts: These are small, non-painful lumps that can occur when sebaceous glands become blocked. They are typically filled with a thick, yellowish substance and can be felt under the skin.
3. Folliculitis: This condition occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to infection or irritation. It can result in small, red bumps that may resemble acne.
4. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or gray bumps. They are typically painless but can be contagious.
5. Lichen Planus: This is an inflammatory condition that can affect the skin and mucous membranes, leading to the development of small, flat-topped bumps.
6. Other Dermatological Conditions: Conditions such as eczema or psoriasis can also manifest as bumps or lesions in the genital area.
Red Clots in Semen
The presence of red clots in semen, particularly after ejaculation, can be concerning and may indicate several underlying issues:
1. Hematospermia: This term refers to the presence of blood in the semen. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including infections (such as prostatitis or urethritis), trauma, or inflammation of the reproductive organs.
2. Prostate Issues: Conditions affecting the prostate, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostatitis, can lead to bleeding that may manifest as red clots in the semen.
3. Vascular Issues: Abnormalities in the blood vessels within the reproductive system can lead to bleeding, which may appear as clots.
4. Infections: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or other infections affecting the urogenital tract can cause inflammation and bleeding.
5. Tumors: Although less common, tumors in the prostate or other parts of the reproductive system can lead to hematospermia.
Recommendations
Given the symptoms you are experiencing, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough examination, which may include:
- A physical examination of the genital area.
- Laboratory tests, including urinalysis and semen analysis.
- Imaging studies, such as an ultrasound, to assess the reproductive organs.
It is essential to address these symptoms promptly, as some conditions may require treatment to prevent complications. In particular, the presence of blood in semen should not be ignored, as it can indicate underlying health issues that need to be evaluated.
In conclusion, while some causes of granular bumps may be benign, the combination of these bumps with the presence of red clots in semen warrants a comprehensive evaluation by a healthcare professional. Early diagnosis and appropriate management can lead to better health outcomes and peace of mind.
