Will this result in pregnancy?

I have a female friend who had some intimate interactions with her boyfriend this afternoon.
She touched his genital area and felt a small amount of pre-ejaculate fluid (about a drop).
Afterward, she felt disgusted and wiped it on his palm.
He then slightly touched the outer area of her vagina with his fingers.
Later, when she was cleaning herself, she accidentally used the same hand that had touched the pre-ejaculate fluid to clean her vagina (about the length of the first segment of her index finger).
After returning home, she was worried about the possibility of pregnancy, so she started rinsing and rubbing the outer and inner areas of her vagina with water.
After washing, she noticed a little fluid still coming out, so she used tissue to absorb it and continued to change tissues until no more fluid was flowing out.
(Her hymen should still be intact.) Doctor, is there a chance of pregnancy from this? What should she do now?

Hello, the chances of pregnancy are low, but it is recommended to take proper contraceptive measures "before" engaging in sexual activity.
Wishing you good health.

The concern about the possibility of pregnancy from pre-ejaculate fluid, also known as pre-cum, is a common question among sexually active individuals. To address your friend's situation, it's important to understand the nature of pre-ejaculate and the circumstances that can lead to pregnancy.

Pre-ejaculate fluid is produced by the Cowper's glands and is released during sexual arousal. Its primary function is to lubricate the urethra and neutralize any acidity that may be present from urine. While pre-ejaculate itself does not typically contain sperm, there is a possibility that it may carry sperm if there are residual sperm in the urethra from a previous ejaculation. This means that while the risk of pregnancy from pre-ejaculate is lower than from ejaculate, it is not zero.

In your friend's case, the interaction involved touching the male partner's genital area and then touching her own vaginal area. If there was any sperm present in the pre-ejaculate, there is a theoretical risk of pregnancy, especially since the fingers were used to touch the vaginal opening. However, the likelihood of pregnancy occurring from this specific scenario is relatively low, particularly if there was no direct ejaculation involved.

After the incident, your friend took steps to clean herself, which is a natural response to feeling uncomfortable. However, washing the vaginal area does not guarantee the removal of any sperm that may have been present. Sperm can swim and may still be viable even after washing, although the chances of pregnancy decrease significantly with such actions.

If your friend is concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, she should consider the following steps:
1. Emergency Contraception: If the incident occurred within the last 72-120 hours (3-5 days), she may consider taking emergency contraception (EC), such as Plan B or Ella. EC is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse.

2. Monitor for Symptoms: She should keep an eye out for any signs of pregnancy, such as a missed period, nausea, or breast tenderness. If she experiences any of these symptoms, she should take a home pregnancy test or consult a healthcare provider.

3. Consult a Healthcare Provider: If she remains anxious about the situation, it would be beneficial for her to speak with a healthcare provider. They can provide personalized advice and discuss options for contraception moving forward.

4. Consider Regular Contraceptive Methods: If she is sexually active, it may be wise for her to consider a regular form of contraception to prevent unintended pregnancies in the future. Options include hormonal birth control pills, condoms, IUDs, or other methods that suit her lifestyle and health needs.

In conclusion, while there is a potential risk of pregnancy from pre-ejaculate, the likelihood in this specific scenario appears to be low. Taking proactive steps, such as considering emergency contraception and consulting with a healthcare provider, can help alleviate concerns and provide clarity moving forward.
