Nocturnal emissions issue

Hello Doctor: I started experiencing nocturnal emissions in the first year of junior high school.
At that time, I received health education and learned that it was a normal phenomenon.
By the third year of junior high, my mother noticed the frequency of my nocturnal emissions had increased, so she bought me boxers to avoid discomfort.
However, when I got to college, wearing briefs seemed to enhance intimacy with my girlfriend.
Even after we broke up two years ago, I continued to wear briefs.
Recently, in the past three months, it seems that I have started experiencing nocturnal emissions again.
It appears that previously, the emissions were significant, leaving a large stain in the area of erection on my underwear, while now it seems to be just a small amount in certain areas of my underwear.
If this is indeed nocturnal emission, is my sperm volume normal for my age? Why is there such a difference compared to before? Shouldn't I be reaching my peak in this age?

Nocturnal emissions, commonly referred to as "wet dreams," are a normal physiological phenomenon that typically occurs during adolescence and can continue into adulthood. They are a natural part of sexual development and are often associated with erotic dreams or sexual arousal during sleep. Understanding the changes in frequency and nature of these emissions over time can help alleviate concerns and provide clarity on what is considered normal.

In your case, it appears that you experienced nocturnal emissions starting in middle school, which is quite typical. During puberty, hormonal changes lead to increased testosterone levels, which can result in more frequent nocturnal emissions. As you transitioned into high school and then college, it is not uncommon for the frequency of these emissions to fluctuate. The fact that you noticed a change in the amount and location of the emissions could be attributed to several factors, including hormonal fluctuations, psychological factors, and even changes in your sexual activity or arousal levels.

Regarding your concerns about sperm quantity and the changes you have observed, it's important to note that sperm production can vary widely among individuals and can be influenced by various factors such as stress, diet, lifestyle, and overall health. At your age, it is expected that sperm production is at a peak, but individual experiences can differ. The fact that you are experiencing nocturnal emissions again after a period of reduced frequency does not necessarily indicate a problem; rather, it may reflect changes in your sexual health or emotional state, especially following a breakup.

If you are concerned about your sperm count or reproductive health, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare professional. They can provide a semen analysis if necessary, which can give you a clearer picture of your reproductive health. Additionally, they can address any concerns you may have about the frequency of nocturnal emissions and whether they are within a normal range for your age.

In terms of lifestyle, wearing different types of underwear, such as boxers or briefs, can affect comfort and potentially influence the frequency of nocturnal emissions. However, the choice of underwear is largely a matter of personal preference and comfort. If you find that wearing certain types of underwear enhances your sexual experience or comfort, it is perfectly fine to continue doing so.

In summary, nocturnal emissions are a normal part of sexual development, and variations in frequency and volume can occur over time due to a variety of factors. If you have ongoing concerns about your reproductive health or changes in your body, seeking advice from a healthcare professional can provide reassurance and guidance tailored to your individual situation. Remember, open communication with a trusted medical provider can help address any worries you may have and ensure that you are informed about your health.
