Penis size issues?
Hello, doctor; I turned 18 last year, and I have been troubled by a question regarding the size of my penis.
When not erect, it measures only 7 to 8 centimeters, and when erect, it is only 13 to 15 centimeters.
I have noticed that my older brothers have a size of 13 to 15 centimeters even when not erect.
It seems that during puberty, there wasn't much development in that area; I only developed pubic hair, and there isn't much of it, while my Adam's apple, beard, and underarm hair have developed well.
Why is it that only that area hasn't grown much? Should I see a doctor? I was born 1.5 months premature; could this be related? If not, then why hasn't there been much development? Thank you, doctor, for taking the time to answer my questions.

It's completely normal for young men to have concerns about their development, especially regarding penis size and overall sexual maturity. Many factors can influence the growth and development of the penis during puberty, and it's important to understand that there is a wide range of what is considered "normal."
Firstly, puberty typically begins between the ages of 9 and 14 for boys and can last until the late teens. During this time, various physical changes occur, including the growth of body hair, deepening of the voice, and changes in genital size. The penis and testicles usually begin to grow after the onset of puberty, and this growth can continue for several years. By the age of 18, most boys will have completed their major growth spurts, but some may continue to see minor changes into their early twenties.
Regarding your specific concerns about penis size, it's important to note that average erect penis size is generally reported to be between 5 to 6 inches (approximately 12.7 to 15.2 cm). Your measurements of 13 to 15 cm when erect fall within this average range. The size of the penis can vary significantly among individuals, and genetics plays a crucial role in determining this. Factors such as family history can influence your development, and it's not uncommon for brothers to have different sizes.
You mentioned that you were born prematurely, which can sometimes be associated with variations in growth and development. Premature birth can affect various aspects of physical development, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you will have issues with genital growth. If you have concerns about your development, it may be beneficial to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough evaluation and determine if there are any underlying issues that need to be addressed.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the presence of body hair, such as facial hair and underarm hair, does not always correlate with genital development. Hormonal changes during puberty can lead to different rates of development in various areas of the body. Testosterone, the primary male sex hormone, is responsible for many of these changes, and its levels can vary among individuals.
If you're feeling anxious about your development, it's essential to remember that everyone develops at their own pace. Engaging in a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep, can support your overall growth and well-being. If you continue to have concerns about your penis size or any other aspect of your development, don't hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider. They can offer reassurance, guidance, and any necessary medical evaluations.
In conclusion, while it's natural to have concerns about penis size and development, it's important to understand that there is a wide range of normal. If you're feeling particularly worried, consulting a doctor can provide clarity and peace of mind. Remember, development is a personal journey, and it's essential to focus on your overall health and well-being rather than just one aspect of your physical appearance.
