Breast size
Recently, I've been experiencing pain from my right armpit to the area near my ribs, which has affected my arm and made it feel a bit sore.
When I touch the area near my breasts, I feel like my right breast feels different from my left breast; it feels odd and seems smaller.
My breasts have never been very large, and my left breast feels more complete, while the edges of my right breast feel more irregular.
Being still young, I'm really worried.

Breast size changes and associated pain can be concerning, especially when they occur suddenly or without an obvious cause. It's important to understand that breast tissue is influenced by various factors, including hormonal fluctuations, lifestyle changes, and even stress. In your case, the pain radiating from your right armpit to the rib area, along with the differences in texture and size between your breasts, warrants careful consideration.
Firstly, hormonal changes are a common cause of breast tenderness and size fluctuations. The menstrual cycle is a significant factor, as estrogen and progesterone levels rise and fall, leading to changes in breast tissue. However, if you are experiencing these symptoms outside of your menstrual cycle, it may indicate a different underlying issue. Hormonal imbalances can also occur due to factors such as stress, diet, and lifestyle changes. For example, significant weight loss or gain, changes in exercise habits, or alterations in diet can all impact hormone levels and subsequently affect breast tissue.
The sensation of one breast feeling different from the other is not uncommon. Many women experience asymmetry in breast size and shape, which can be completely normal. However, if you notice a significant change in texture, such as a "lumpy" or "bumpy" feeling in one breast, it is essential to seek medical advice. This could be due to benign conditions such as fibrocystic breast changes, which are characterized by lumpy, painful breasts often related to hormonal fluctuations. These changes can lead to discomfort, particularly before menstruation.
In your case, the pain extending to the armpit and rib area could suggest a few possibilities. It may be related to muscle strain or tension in the chest wall, especially if you have been engaging in physical activities that involve the upper body. However, it could also indicate a more serious condition, such as a cyst or, in rare cases, a tumor. While most breast lumps are benign, it is crucial to have any new or unusual changes evaluated by a healthcare professional.
The fact that you are feeling anxious about these changes is understandable. Anxiety can exacerbate physical symptoms, leading to increased awareness of bodily sensations. It is essential to approach this situation with a clear mind and seek a professional evaluation. A healthcare provider may recommend imaging studies, such as a mammogram or ultrasound, to assess the breast tissue and rule out any significant issues.
In summary, while breast size changes and associated pain can often be attributed to hormonal fluctuations and benign conditions, it is vital to monitor your symptoms closely. If you notice persistent pain, significant changes in breast texture, or any new lumps, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough examination. Early evaluation can provide peace of mind and ensure that any potential issues are addressed promptly. Remember, your health is paramount, and seeking help is a proactive step towards understanding your body better.
