I have a medical condition I would like to inquire about?

I have a medical condition that I would like to inquire about.
Since March, I have noticed that whenever I stand and do anything, my calves and feet feel unsteady and weak as they touch the ground.
If I am sleep-deprived, I experience nausea and a sensation of lightheadedness, as if I might faint.
After seeking medical attention, no cause has been identified.
I have undergone blood tests, thyroid tests, and various brain examinations, all of which showed no abnormalities.
I have also looked into reports related to ear diseases, but I am unsure if they are relevant.
Therefore, I would like to ask the physician if they could provide me with some assistance.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Lin Junliang.

Dr. Wang Fangli reply Internal Medicine

Hello Mr.
Lin: Based on the symptoms you described, it is possible that you have anemia.
I would like to know if your blood tests included red blood cells and hemoglobin levels.
I recommend that you visit a major hospital's internal medicine department and inform the physician about the tests you have undergone and their results.
Sincerely, Dr.

Dear Lin Junliang,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns regarding the unexplained weakness and dizziness you have been experiencing since March. It’s understandable to feel anxious when facing such symptoms, especially when medical evaluations have not provided clear answers. I will do my best to provide you with some insights and potential avenues for further exploration.

Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing a combination of symptoms that could be attributed to several underlying conditions. The sensations of weakness in your legs, particularly when standing, along with feelings of dizziness and nausea, can be indicative of various issues, including but not limited to vestibular disorders, orthostatic hypotension, or even anxiety-related symptoms.

1. Vestibular Disorders: These disorders affect the inner ear and brain areas that help control balance and eye movements. Symptoms can include dizziness, vertigo, and balance issues. You mentioned looking into ear-related diseases, which is a good step. Conditions like Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) or vestibular neuritis could be considered. A thorough evaluation by an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist) may be beneficial.

2. Orthostatic Hypotension: This condition occurs when your blood pressure drops significantly when you stand up, leading to dizziness and lightheadedness. It can be caused by dehydration, certain medications, or autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Monitoring your blood pressure while lying down and then standing could provide insights into whether this is a contributing factor.

3. Anxiety and Stress: Psychological factors can manifest physically, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, and nausea. If you have been under significant stress or anxiety, it might be worth exploring this aspect with a mental health professional. Techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or mindfulness practices can be effective in managing anxiety-related symptoms.

4. Nutritional Deficiencies: Sometimes, deficiencies in essential nutrients such as vitamin B12, vitamin D, or iron can lead to symptoms of weakness and dizziness. If you haven’t already, consider discussing with your healthcare provider the possibility of checking your nutritional status.

5. Neurological Evaluation: Since you have undergone some brain evaluations, it might be worth consulting a neurologist if you haven’t already. They can perform more specialized tests to rule out conditions such as multiple sclerosis or other neurological disorders.

6. Physical Therapy: Engaging in physical therapy could help improve your balance and strength. A physical therapist can design a tailored exercise program that focuses on stability and strength training, which may alleviate some of your symptoms.

7. Sleep Hygiene: Since you mentioned that lack of sleep exacerbates your symptoms, focusing on improving your sleep hygiene could be beneficial. Establishing a regular sleep schedule, creating a restful environment, and avoiding stimulants before bedtime can help improve your overall sleep quality.

In conclusion, while it’s frustrating not to have a clear diagnosis, there are multiple avenues to explore. I recommend continuing to advocate for your health by seeking further evaluations from specialists, particularly in the areas of neurology, otolaryngology, and possibly psychology. Keeping a detailed diary of your symptoms, including when they occur and any potential triggers, can also be helpful for your healthcare providers in identifying patterns and potential causes.

Please remember that you are not alone in this journey, and seeking support from friends, family, or support groups can also provide emotional relief as you navigate these challenges. I wish you the best in finding answers and improving your health.

Sincerely,
