Sudden abdominal rash?
A few days ago, while cleaning my house, I suddenly discovered several bumps on my abdomen that were red, swollen, and painful, with pus in the center.
Initially, I thought they were flea bites.
A few days later, I noticed small red bumps that were slightly itchy but not painful.
Since the number of bumps has increased, I am concerned and would like to consult a doctor.
I have attached a photo: http://imgur.com/6fehJbm (the darker ones are what I initially suspected to be flea bites, and the smaller red ones are the ones that appeared later).
What could this be?

Medical regulations state that "physicians must personally examine patients before providing treatment or prescribing medication..." Therefore, online diagnosis is also not permitted.
If you are experiencing significant distress, it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly.

Sudden abdominal rashes can be concerning, especially when they are accompanied by symptoms such as redness, swelling, and pain. Based on your description and the accompanying image, there are several potential causes for the rash you are experiencing.
One possibility is that the rash could be a result of an allergic reaction or contact dermatitis. This occurs when the skin comes into contact with an irritant or allergen, leading to inflammation and the formation of red, itchy bumps. Common irritants include soaps, detergents, or even certain fabrics. If you have recently changed any of your personal care products or laundry detergents, this could be a contributing factor.
Another potential cause could be an insect bite, such as from fleas, mosquitoes, or other insects. The initial bumps you described as being painful and swollen could be bites that have become infected or have developed into a localized allergic reaction. The subsequent smaller red bumps may indicate a spreading reaction or additional bites.
Infections can also cause rashes. For instance, folliculitis, which is an infection of the hair follicles, can lead to red, pus-filled bumps. If the rash is accompanied by fever, chills, or other systemic symptoms, it may indicate a more serious infection that requires medical attention.
Additionally, conditions such as hives (urticaria) or eczema could also present with similar symptoms. Hives are often triggered by allergens and can appear suddenly, while eczema is a chronic condition that can flare up due to various triggers, including stress or environmental factors.
To manage the rash, consider the following steps:
1. Avoid Scratching: This can worsen the irritation and lead to secondary infections.
2. Cool Compress: Applying a cool, damp cloth to the affected area can help reduce swelling and discomfort.
3. Over-the-Counter Treatments: Antihistamines (like diphenhydramine or loratadine) can help alleviate itching if the rash is due to an allergic reaction. Topical corticosteroids can also reduce inflammation and itching.
4. Keep the Area Clean: Gently wash the area with mild soap and water to prevent infection.
5. Monitor for Changes: Keep an eye on the rash for any changes in size, color, or if it starts to spread. If you notice any signs of infection, such as increased redness, warmth, swelling, or pus, seek medical attention promptly.
6. Consult a Healthcare Provider: Since the rash has persisted and changed, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. They may perform a physical examination and, if necessary, order tests to determine the underlying cause of the rash.
In summary, while there are several potential causes for your abdominal rash, the best course of action is to seek medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Early intervention can help prevent complications and provide relief from discomfort.
