Is abnormal bleeding related to menstrual regulation medications?

The last menstrual period was from July 1 to July 7.
On July 18, there was a sexual encounter with a condom, but it was put on incorrectly and was re-applied without wiping.
There was no ejaculation.
On July 19, there was another sexual encounter where there was vaginal rubbing before putting on the condom, and again, there was no ejaculation.
On July 28, I visited a gynecologist and received medication to induce menstruation.
I also drank safflower tea, and after that, I started experiencing breast swelling.
On August 4, my period started with heavy bleeding and significant abdominal pain, passing out blood clots the size of a fist.
After passing the clots, the abdominal pain subsided, and the bleeding decreased.
On August 6, I experienced abdominal pain again and passed more blood clots, after which the bleeding also decreased.
Could this be due to the medication and safflower tea, or is there a possibility of pregnancy?

Hello, Miss Anonymous: The bleeding you are experiencing is likely due to the menstrual induction medication, so there is no need to worry.
It is unlikely that you are pregnant.

Abnormal bleeding can be a concerning symptom for many women, especially when it occurs in relation to menstrual medications or potential pregnancy. Based on the details provided, it appears that you have experienced significant bleeding after taking menstrual induction medications and herbal supplements, which raises questions about the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Firstly, it is essential to understand that menstrual medications, such as those prescribed to induce menstruation, can lead to changes in your menstrual cycle. These medications often contain hormones or other compounds that can stimulate the uterine lining, leading to heavier bleeding or the expulsion of blood clots, as you described. The presence of large blood clots during menstruation is not uncommon, especially when the body is shedding a thicker uterine lining. The abdominal pain you experienced could also be attributed to the contractions of the uterus as it expels this lining.

In your case, the timing of your bleeding following the use of menstrual induction medications and herbal supplements like red flower water suggests that these substances may have played a significant role in your symptoms. It is not unusual for such medications to cause heavier bleeding, especially if they are intended to provoke a menstrual response. The fact that your bleeding was accompanied by abdominal pain and the passage of clots indicates that your body was likely undergoing a significant change, possibly due to the effects of the medications.

However, it is also important to consider the possibility of pregnancy. While you mentioned that you had unprotected sexual encounters, the use of condoms, even if applied incorrectly, does reduce the risk of pregnancy. The absence of ejaculation during intercourse further decreases this risk. However, no contraceptive method is 100% effective, and it is still possible to conceive. If you suspect that you might be pregnant, it would be advisable to take a home pregnancy test or consult with a healthcare provider for a blood test to confirm or rule out pregnancy.

If you are experiencing abnormal bleeding, it is crucial to monitor your symptoms closely. If the bleeding is heavy (soaking through a pad or tampon every hour), accompanied by severe pain, or lasts longer than a typical menstrual period, you should seek medical attention immediately. These could be signs of a more serious condition, such as a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, especially if pregnancy is confirmed.

In summary, the bleeding you are experiencing could be attributed to the menstrual medications and herbal supplements you have taken. However, it is essential to rule out pregnancy as a potential cause. If you have any doubts or if your symptoms worsen, please consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation and guidance. They can provide personalized advice based on your medical history and current symptoms, ensuring that you receive the appropriate care.
