Erection Issues and Reduced Pleasure in Adolescents - Urology

Erection is not very firm, and ejaculation lacks pleasure?

Currently in the ninth grade, I started experiencing ejaculation in the fifth and sixth grades, so I used to do it almost once a day.
After entering junior high, I noticed that my erections seemed to be less firm, and it changed to about three times a week.
A couple of years ago, I discovered that ejaculation no longer felt pleasurable (it just flows out), and the sensation of friction on the glans gradually replaced the previous pleasurable feeling that used to come with trembling.
Often, I ejaculate before achieving full erection.
Although I usually masturbate in a somewhat uncomfortable state, I still don't achieve much firmness even when I am mentally calm.
My foreskin seems to be at a "banana" level.
I would like to ask the doctor how to address this issue.

Dr. Sun Hongshun reply Urology

Hello, the size, firmness of the genital organs, and the pleasure experienced after ejaculation can be influenced by many factors, such as genetics, underlying medical conditions, and both physiological and psychological states.
It is recommended to engage in regular exercise and maintain a relaxed mood.
If symptoms persist, you may consider consulting a urologist.

Erection issues and reduced pleasure during adolescence can be concerning and confusing for many young individuals. It's important to understand that these experiences are not uncommon and can be influenced by a variety of factors, including physiological, psychological, and social aspects.

Understanding Erection Issues
1. Physiological Factors: During puberty, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes. Testosterone levels fluctuate, which can affect libido and erectile function. It's also important to consider that the penis may not always respond in the same way due to various factors such as fatigue, stress, or even diet. If you are experiencing less frequent erections or difficulty achieving full hardness, it may be related to these hormonal changes or other physical factors.

2. Psychological Factors: Anxiety and stress can significantly impact sexual arousal and performance. Adolescents often face pressures related to school, social interactions, and personal expectations. If you are feeling anxious about sexual performance or are preoccupied with thoughts about your body or sexual experiences, this can lead to difficulties in achieving or maintaining an erection.
3. Social and Emotional Factors: Peer pressure and societal expectations can also play a role in how you perceive your sexual health. If you feel that you are not meeting certain standards or if you are comparing yourself to others, this can create additional stress that may affect your sexual experiences.

Reduced Pleasure and Sensation
1. Changes in Sensation: It’s not uncommon for individuals to experience changes in sexual pleasure as they grow older. The intensity of pleasure can vary due to numerous factors, including hormonal changes, the frequency of sexual activity, and even the type of stimulation. If you find that the sensations are not as pleasurable as they once were, it may be worth exploring different forms of stimulation or techniques that could enhance your experience.

2. Physical Comfort: If you are experiencing discomfort during masturbation or sexual activity, it’s essential to address this. Ensure that you are in a comfortable environment and consider using lubrication to enhance sensation. If you have concerns about your anatomy, such as issues related to the foreskin (like phimosis), it may be beneficial to consult a healthcare professional for advice.

Recommendations for Addressing These Issues
1. Open Communication: If you feel comfortable, discussing your concerns with a trusted adult or healthcare provider can be beneficial. They can provide guidance and reassurance, as well as help you understand what is normal during this stage of development.

2. Healthy Lifestyle: Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can positively impact sexual health. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep can improve overall well-being and potentially enhance sexual function.

3. Stress Management: Engaging in stress-reducing activities such as mindfulness, meditation, or hobbies can help alleviate anxiety related to sexual performance. Learning to relax and enjoy the moment can improve your sexual experiences.

4. Professional Help: If these issues persist or significantly impact your quality of life, consider seeking help from a mental health professional or a specialist in sexual health. They can provide tailored strategies and support to address both psychological and physiological concerns.

Conclusion
Experiencing erection issues and reduced pleasure during adolescence can be a normal part of development, but it is essential to address any concerns you may have. Understanding the factors that contribute to these experiences can empower you to take proactive steps toward improving your sexual health. Remember, it’s okay to seek help and talk about these issues, as they are a natural part of growing up.
