Unusual Sensations in Penis and Scrotum: Urological Concerns - Urology

The sensation in the penis and scrotum feels unusual, and the urge to urinate feels different than before?

Hello doctor, I have had a habit of masturbation since childhood, and as I grew older, the frequency increased, and recently it has become almost once a day.
A few days ago, I masturbated before bed, but I was too tired and fell asleep halfway through.
When I woke up later to take a shower, I noticed something felt off with my penis and scrotum.
My penis appeared slightly larger than usual, similar to how it looks after masturbation, and it felt somewhat numb and weak.
It has also become more difficult to achieve an erection; even when aroused, it doesn't feel as firm, and when I squeeze it, it feels elastic and heavy.
The base feels soft, and it sways more than before when erect.
The erection fades quickly, and occasionally, the tip feels painful when not erect.
Now, when I feel the urge to urinate, it’s not the same as before; instead, my penis feels swollen and uncomfortable, like when I suddenly wake up realizing I've been holding it for a long time.
However, I can still urinate normally when I go to the bathroom.
My eating habits have been irregular lately; I haven't been having dinner, and due to work, my sleep schedule is reversed, resulting in insufficient sleep—at most, I only get five hours a day.
My mood hasn't been great recently, and I might be under a bit of stress.
I plan to see a urologist in the next couple of days, but I would like to hear your opinion first.
Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Hello: Poor physical condition, lack of energy, inadequate nutrition, or excessive stress could all contribute to the symptoms you mentioned.
Additionally, urinary tract infections caused by holding in urine may also be a possibility.
Please drink plenty of water, avoid holding in urine, maintain a balanced diet, and ensure adequate rest and exercise.
If symptoms persist, please consult a urologist.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

It sounds like you are experiencing a range of unusual sensations in your penis and scrotum, which can understandably be concerning. Based on your description, there are several factors to consider that may help clarify your situation and guide you in seeking appropriate medical care.

Firstly, the symptoms you describe, such as a feeling of heaviness in the penis, reduced sensitivity, difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, and a sensation of pressure or discomfort in the penis when you need to urinate, could be indicative of several underlying issues. These may include physical factors, psychological stress, or a combination of both.

1. Physical Factors:
- Overstimulation: Frequent masturbation can sometimes lead to temporary changes in sensitivity and erectile function. If you are engaging in this activity excessively, it may cause temporary fatigue of the erectile tissues, leading to a feeling of "heaviness" or reduced firmness during erections.

- Hormonal Changes: Stress and irregular eating patterns can affect hormone levels, including testosterone, which plays a crucial role in sexual function. Low testosterone levels can lead to decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and changes in sensation.

- Circulatory Issues: The sensation of heaviness and reduced firmness may also be related to blood flow issues. If there is any vascular compromise, it could affect how blood fills the erectile tissues, leading to the symptoms you describe.

2. Psychological Factors:
- Stress and Anxiety: You mentioned feeling stressed and having irregular sleep patterns. Psychological factors can significantly impact sexual function. Anxiety about performance or health can lead to decreased libido and erectile difficulties. Additionally, stress can lead to muscle tension, which may contribute to discomfort in the genital area.

- Sleep Deprivation: Lack of adequate sleep can exacerbate stress and hormonal imbalances, further impacting sexual health.

3. Urological Concerns:
- Given your symptoms, it is wise to consult a urologist. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly some tests to rule out any underlying urological conditions such as infections, hormonal imbalances, or vascular issues.

- Conditions such as prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) or other infections could also lead to discomfort and changes in urinary sensations.

4. Lifestyle Considerations:
- It may be beneficial to assess your lifestyle habits. Regular meals, adequate hydration, and a consistent sleep schedule can positively impact your overall health and sexual function. Reducing stress through relaxation techniques, exercise, or counseling may also be helpful.

In summary, while your symptoms may be related to temporary factors such as overstimulation or stress, it is essential to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Visiting a urologist is a prudent step, as they can provide a comprehensive evaluation and tailored advice based on your specific situation. Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider about your symptoms and concerns is crucial for effective diagnosis and treatment.
