Discomfort in the testicles after an erection?
In the past two or three days, I have experienced noticeable discomfort in the nerve area above the left testicle during exertion after an erection.
I previously visited a urologist due to prostatitis, and at that time, there was no indication of a varicocele.
Currently, I do not experience any discomfort during exertion when not erect, but the nerves become significantly tense during an erection.
Could this be related to prolonged erection?

Hello: The area you mentioned could possibly be a hernia, testicular inflammation, or varicocele.
Due to the persistent discomfort, it is still recommended to consult with a urologist for evaluation and examination.
Wishing you good health.

Discomfort in the left testicle after an erection can be concerning and may arise from various underlying causes. Given your history of prostate inflammation and the previously noted condition of varicocele (enlarged veins within the scrotum), it is essential to consider these factors when evaluating your current symptoms.
1. Prostate Inflammation: Chronic prostatitis can lead to discomfort in the pelvic region, including the testicles. The inflammation may cause referred pain, which can be exacerbated during sexual arousal or after an erection. If you have a history of prostatitis, it might be worthwhile to revisit this diagnosis with your urologist, especially if you notice any changes in your symptoms.
2. Varicocele: This condition can lead to a feeling of heaviness or discomfort in the testicle, particularly after prolonged periods of sexual arousal or activity. The increased blood flow during an erection can exacerbate the symptoms of varicocele, leading to discomfort. If you have been diagnosed with this condition in the past, it may be worth discussing with your healthcare provider whether any changes have occurred since your last evaluation.
3. Nerve Compression or Irritation: The discomfort you describe as a "tightening" sensation in the nerve area above the left testicle could indicate nerve irritation or compression. This could be due to various factors, including muscle tension or anatomical variations. If the discomfort is consistent and bothersome, a thorough physical examination and possibly imaging studies may be warranted to rule out any structural issues.
4. Erection Duration: Prolonged erections can lead to discomfort due to increased blood flow and pressure in the testicular area. If you find that your erections last longer than usual or are accompanied by discomfort, it may be beneficial to discuss this with your healthcare provider. They can provide guidance on managing erections and any necessary interventions.
5. Other Considerations: Other potential causes of testicular discomfort include epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis), testicular torsion (a medical emergency), or even referred pain from other areas of the body. If you experience any additional symptoms such as swelling, redness, or severe pain, it is crucial to seek medical attention promptly.
Recommendations:
- Consult a Urologist: Given your history and current symptoms, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with a urologist. They can perform a comprehensive evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly imaging studies, to determine the underlying cause of your discomfort.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of when the discomfort occurs, its intensity, and any associated symptoms. This information can be invaluable for your healthcare provider in diagnosing the issue.
- Avoid Strain: If you notice that certain activities exacerbate your discomfort, consider modifying those activities until you can consult with a healthcare professional.
In summary, discomfort in the left testicle after an erection can stem from various causes, including previous prostate issues, varicocele, nerve irritation, or prolonged erections. It is essential to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the exact cause and receive appropriate treatment.
