Urethral orifice issues
Hello, doctor.
After ejaculation, I experience slight swelling at the urethral opening (the tip of the glans), resembling a pout, but there is no pain.
I have varicocele and usually prefer not to wear underwear due to the feeling of heat and constriction.
I am unsure if this is related.
Thank you for your assistance.

More Info
Urethral swelling after ejaculation can be concerning, but it is important to understand the potential causes and implications of this symptom. The condition you describe, where the urethral opening appears slightly swollen without accompanying pain, can be attributed to several factors.
Firstly, the swelling you experience could be a result of increased blood flow and engorgement of the tissues in the genital area during sexual arousal and ejaculation. This is a normal physiological response, as the body directs more blood to the penis and surrounding areas, which can lead to temporary swelling. In most cases, this swelling should subside shortly after ejaculation.
Another potential cause of urethral swelling could be related to your existing condition of varicocele (enlarged veins within the scrotum). While varicocele primarily affects the testicular area, it can also influence blood flow and pressure in the pelvic region, potentially leading to changes in the urethra and surrounding tissues. However, the relationship between varicocele and urethral swelling is not well-established, and more research is needed to clarify any direct connections.
Additionally, the absence of pain is a positive sign, as painful swelling could indicate an infection or other underlying issues, such as urethritis or prostatitis. Urethritis, an inflammation of the urethra, can occur due to infections or irritants, and it typically presents with symptoms like pain, burning during urination, or discharge. Since you do not report these symptoms, it is less likely that you are experiencing urethritis.
Regarding your habit of not wearing underwear, while it may provide comfort, it is essential to maintain proper hygiene and support for the genital area. Prolonged exposure to heat and moisture can lead to irritation or infections, which could exacerbate any swelling or discomfort. It may be beneficial to wear breathable underwear made from moisture-wicking materials to help keep the area dry and reduce the risk of irritation.
In terms of monitoring your symptoms, if the swelling persists, worsens, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, discharge, or changes in urination, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional. They may recommend a physical examination and possibly some tests to rule out any underlying conditions.
In summary, while the urethral swelling you experience after ejaculation may be a benign and temporary response to increased blood flow, it is essential to remain vigilant about any changes in your symptoms. Maintaining good hygiene, considering supportive undergarments, and monitoring for any additional symptoms will help ensure your genital health. If you have any concerns or if the swelling continues, seeking medical advice would be the best course of action.
