Is excessive masturbation a concern?
Hello doctor, after masturbating last night, I felt a brief pain in my back muscles when stretching.
I was worried all night and now I feel a bit fatigued.
Could this be a kidney issue, or is it related to excessive masturbation (once a day)? Sometimes my urine has more bubbles, but they usually dissipate.
I also have a tendency to slouch and have posture problems, and my back sometimes hurts (it can be higher up or lower down).
Is this a kidney infection, or am I overthinking it?

Dr. Wu Hongjie reply Internal Medicine
Hello: Typically, pain in the kidney area is not located too high.
If you are referring to pain that is at the level of the thoracic spine, it may not be related to kidney function issues.
To determine if there is an infection, a urine test is recommended, as bubbles in the urine can disappear quickly.
This could indicate proteinuria, but a hospital visit for a urine test is necessary to identify the cause of back pain, which can have many origins.
It is still advisable to go to the hospital for a check-up.
Wishing you health and safety.

Excessive masturbation is a topic that often raises concerns about its potential effects on physical health, including back pain and urinary issues. However, it is essential to approach this subject with a clear understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the psychological aspects involved.
Firstly, it is important to clarify that masturbation itself, when done in moderation, is generally considered a normal and healthy sexual activity. It does not inherently cause physical harm or lead to significant health issues. However, excessive or compulsive masturbation can lead to physical discomfort, including muscle strain, particularly if it is accompanied by poor posture or excessive force during the act.
In your case, the back pain you are experiencing could be related to several factors. One possibility is that the pain is due to muscle strain from the physical activity involved in masturbation, especially if you are using awkward positions or straining your back muscles. Additionally, if you have a pre-existing condition, such as poor posture or a history of back pain, these factors could exacerbate your discomfort.
The sensation of back pain after masturbation may also be linked to the body's response to physical exertion. Just like any other form of exercise, masturbation can lead to temporary muscle soreness, particularly if you are not accustomed to the movements or if you are engaging in it more vigorously than usual.
Regarding your urinary symptoms, such as increased foamy urine, it is crucial to consider that this can be influenced by various factors, including hydration levels, diet, and potential underlying medical conditions. Foamy urine can sometimes indicate the presence of protein, which could be a sign of kidney issues, but it is not definitive on its own. If you are experiencing other symptoms, such as pain during urination, changes in urine color, or persistent back pain, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation.
Your concerns about kidney infection are valid, especially if you are experiencing additional symptoms such as fever, chills, or changes in urinary habits. Kidney infections can cause back pain, particularly in the lower back, and may be accompanied by urinary symptoms. However, without additional symptoms, it is difficult to conclude that your back pain is directly related to a kidney issue.
In summary, while excessive masturbation can lead to temporary discomfort, it is unlikely to be the sole cause of your back pain or urinary issues. It is essential to evaluate your overall health, posture, and any other contributing factors. If your symptoms persist or worsen, I strongly recommend seeking medical advice from a healthcare provider who can perform the necessary tests and provide a comprehensive assessment of your condition. They may suggest lifestyle modifications, posture correction, or further investigations to rule out any underlying issues. Remember, taking care of your physical health is crucial, and addressing these concerns with a professional can lead to better outcomes.
