Symptoms of glans penis conditions?
On November 9th of this year, I had sexual relations with a sex worker.
Recently, I've been experiencing itching on the glans and foreskin.
When I have an erection and apply pressure to the penis, many small red spots appear on the surface of the glans, which are not visible when flaccid.
Today, I noticed a distinct dark red spot on the surface of the glans; this dark red spot does not have a granular appearance and is completely flat.
I have phimosis, and during an erection, a small portion of the foreskin remains at the tip.
Could this be due to insufficient hygiene, or is there a possibility that it could be a sexually transmitted infection?

More Info
When experiencing symptoms such as itching, red spots, and changes in the glans (the head of the penis), it is essential to consider various potential causes, including infections, skin conditions, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Given your recent sexual encounter with a sex worker, it is prudent to be particularly vigilant about the possibility of STDs.
Possible Causes of Symptoms
1. Infections:
- Bacterial Infections: Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) can occur due to bacterial infections, often exacerbated by poor hygiene, especially in cases of phimosis (where the foreskin cannot be easily retracted). Symptoms may include redness, swelling, and itching.
- Fungal Infections: Yeast infections can also cause similar symptoms, particularly if there is an overgrowth of Candida, which thrives in warm, moist environments.
2. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs):
- Gonorrhea and Chlamydia: These bacterial infections can lead to symptoms such as discharge, itching, and redness. They often require antibiotic treatment.
- Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): This virus can cause painful sores and itching. The appearance of red spots or blisters may indicate an outbreak.
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV): Certain strains can lead to genital warts, which may appear as small bumps or lesions on the genital area.
- Syphilis: This STD can present with various symptoms, including sores and rashes, and requires specific testing for diagnosis.
3. Dermatological Conditions:
- Contact Dermatitis: Irritation from soaps, lotions, or other products can lead to redness and itching.
- Psoriasis or Eczema: These chronic skin conditions can also affect the genital area, leading to similar symptoms.
Importance of Hygiene
You mentioned having a longer foreskin, which can sometimes complicate hygiene. It is crucial to maintain proper hygiene by gently cleaning the area with mild soap and water. This can help prevent infections and irritation. However, excessive scrubbing or using harsh soaps can worsen the condition, so it’s essential to find a balance.
Recommendations
1. Seek Medical Attention: Given the symptoms and your recent sexual encounter, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider. They can perform a physical examination, take a detailed history, and possibly conduct tests (such as swabs or blood tests) to determine the exact cause of your symptoms.
2. Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While it is tempting to search for answers online, self-diagnosing can lead to unnecessary anxiety and potentially incorrect treatment. A healthcare professional can provide a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
3. Abstain from Sexual Activity: Until you have been evaluated and treated, it is wise to refrain from sexual activity to prevent potential transmission of any infections to partners.
4. Educate Yourself on STDs: Understanding the risks and symptoms associated with STDs can empower you to make informed decisions about your sexual health in the future.
Conclusion
In summary, the symptoms you are experiencing could be due to a variety of causes, including infections, STDs, or dermatological conditions. Proper hygiene is essential, especially with a longer foreskin, but the best course of action is to seek medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Early intervention can prevent complications and ensure better health outcomes.
