Am I pregnant?

On January 29, my menstrual cycle started, and it ended on February 3.
From the beginning of February until the 18th, I was in a risky period and had intermittent sexual intercourse without using protection.
There was no ejaculation inside; I pulled out and ejaculated one second later.
Afterward, I experienced symptoms of urgency to urinate, frequent urination, and breast engorgement, but the frequent urination resolved after a day.
Overall, I feel something is off with my body.
Can breast engorgement indicate pregnancy?

kkm, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2017/02/21

Hello, if the chances of pregnancy are low, it's best to wait.
It's always advisable to take preventive measures beforehand and not to rely on the safe period.
If your period is more than a week late, it is recommended to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

When considering the possibility of pregnancy, it is important to understand the various symptoms and risks associated with it. Based on your timeline, it seems you had your menstrual cycle from January 29 to February 3, and you engaged in unprotected sexual activity during your fertile window. While you mentioned that you did not experience internal ejaculation, the withdrawal method is not foolproof, and there is still a risk of pregnancy.

Symptoms of Pregnancy:
The symptoms you are experiencing, such as breast tenderness (often referred to as "奶漲" or breast engorgement) and changes in urination (like urgency or frequency), can be associated with early pregnancy. However, these symptoms can also be attributed to other factors, such as hormonal changes in your menstrual cycle, stress, or even premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Breast tenderness is a common symptom that can occur due to hormonal fluctuations, and while it can be an early sign of pregnancy, it is not definitive on its own.

Understanding Urinary Symptoms:
The urinary symptoms you described, such as urgency and frequency, can also occur for various reasons. In early pregnancy, hormonal changes can lead to increased blood flow to the pelvic area, which may cause more frequent urination. However, since you mentioned that these symptoms resolved after a day, it may not be directly related to pregnancy. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) or other non-pregnancy-related issues could also cause similar symptoms.

Is It Possible to Be Pregnant?
Given that you had unprotected sex during your fertile window, there is a possibility of pregnancy. The withdrawal method, while it may reduce the risk, does not eliminate it entirely. If you are concerned about the possibility of being pregnant, the most reliable way to confirm is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining.

When to Test:
It is advisable to wait until at least the first day of your missed period to take a pregnancy test for the most accurate results. If your cycle is regular and you have a 28-day cycle, you might expect your next period around February 27. Testing too early may lead to a false negative result.

Risks and Considerations:
If you do find out that you are pregnant, it is essential to consider the risks and symptoms that may arise during pregnancy. Early pregnancy can come with various symptoms, including nausea, fatigue, and mood swings. It is also crucial to be aware of any concerning symptoms, such as severe abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, or signs of an ectopic pregnancy, which would require immediate medical attention.

In summary, while the symptoms you are experiencing could suggest pregnancy, they are not definitive. The best course of action is to take a pregnancy test after your expected period date. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms worsen, it is always best to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and support.
