Yellowish semen
Hello, Doctor: I recently experienced a problem with blood in my ejaculation.
After seeing a doctor, I was advised to abstain and take erythromycin 250mg for three weeks, with instructions to follow up if there were any issues.
(The doctor seemed to think I was a bit overly anxious and kept reassuring me that I probably wouldn’t have any major problems, which made me wonder if he was hinting that I should try not to worry and not return for a follow-up.) After resuming masturbation, I noticed that during the first ejaculation, the semen was still white, but after the second ejaculation, it changed color slightly.
The color was yellow.
Here is a link to the photo from the second ejaculation after the abstinence: http://imgur.com/a/1jpah.
I am unsure if this color is considered normal.
I may only be able to show this photo to the doctor for confirmation.
1.
Is this semen color considered normal?
2.
Should I continue to observe this situation before considering the next steps, or should I return for a follow-up as soon as possible?
3.
Additionally, I am taking Robitussin; could this affect the color of my semen?
Thank you, Doctor, for clarifying these concerns.

Hello: It's still okay.
The color of semen can naturally vary.
As long as there is no fever, bleeding, or difficulty urinating, it should be fine.
Regarding the medication Loperamide, I haven't heard of such phenomena, but please consult the physician who prescribed the medication for you.
Thank you for your inquiry.

Understanding the color and consistency of semen can be a source of concern for many individuals, especially when changes occur. In your case, the appearance of yellow semen after a period of abstinence and treatment raises several important points to consider.
1. Normal Semen Color: Typically, healthy semen is a whitish-gray color. Variations can occur due to several factors, including hydration levels, diet, and frequency of ejaculation. A yellowish tint can sometimes be attributed to the presence of urine in the semen, which can happen if there is a retrograde ejaculation or if there is residual urine in the urethra. Additionally, dietary factors, such as the consumption of certain foods (like asparagus or foods high in beta-carotene), can also influence the color of semen.
2. When to Seek Medical Advice: Given your history of blood in the semen and the treatment with erythromycin, it is essential to monitor any changes closely. If the yellow color persists, especially if accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, discomfort, or changes in urinary habits, it would be prudent to return to your healthcare provider for further evaluation. Since you have already been advised to observe your symptoms, it may be beneficial to keep a record of any changes in color, consistency, and associated symptoms over the next few days. If you notice any worsening or new symptoms, do not hesitate to seek medical attention sooner rather than later.
3. Impact of Medications: You mentioned taking "柔沛" (which I assume refers to a medication like "Ropinirole" or another similar drug). While this medication is primarily used for conditions like Parkinson's disease or Restless Legs Syndrome, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider about any potential side effects, including those that might affect semen color. Some medications can alter bodily fluids, including semen, but it is crucial to discuss this with your doctor to understand the specific implications of your treatment.
In conclusion, while a yellow tint in semen can sometimes be benign, given your medical history, it is advisable to remain vigilant. If the yellow color persists or if you experience any additional symptoms, returning to your healthcare provider for a thorough examination is essential. They may recommend further tests, such as a urinalysis or semen analysis, to rule out any underlying conditions, including infections or other abnormalities. Remember, your health and peace of mind are paramount, and seeking clarification from your doctor is always a wise decision when it comes to changes in your body.
