Mild testicular discomfort after ejaculation?

Hello doctor, two months ago I had prostatitis and right epididymitis, but I have since recovered.
However, ever since then, after masturbation, I experience a mild aching sensation above the left testicle that lasts for about 1-2 days.
Although it is not severe, it does cause me some concern, as I have rarely experienced such discomfort in the past.
There have been no visible signs of inflammation or changes.
Could this be due to a recent lack of exercise? I would appreciate your insights.
Thank you.

Hello: It may be necessary to reduce masturbation, increase light exercise, avoid prolonged sitting, and temporarily refrain from spicy foods and alcohol, which should help improve the situation.
After recovering from prostatitis and epididymitis, it is important to pay attention to lifestyle maintenance.

Mild testicular discomfort after ejaculation can be concerning, especially given your recent history of prostatitis and epididymitis. It's understandable to feel anxious about any new symptoms, particularly when they involve sensitive areas like the testicles. Let's explore the potential causes of your discomfort and what you might consider doing next.

Firstly, it's important to recognize that mild discomfort in the testicular area after ejaculation can occur for various reasons. Given your previous conditions, it's possible that the discomfort is related to residual effects from your past infections. Prostatitis and epididymitis can lead to inflammation and sensitivity in the surrounding tissues, which might not completely resolve even after the primary infection has been treated. This lingering sensitivity can manifest as discomfort or a dull ache in the testicular area, especially after sexual activity or ejaculation.

Another potential cause of your discomfort could be related to the mechanics of ejaculation itself. During ejaculation, there is a significant increase in pressure and blood flow to the pelvic region, which can sometimes lead to temporary discomfort, particularly if there is any residual inflammation or sensitivity from your previous conditions. The discomfort you describe lasting for 1-2 days post-ejaculation is somewhat unusual but not unheard of, especially if your body is still adjusting after your recent health issues.

Additionally, lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise, stress, or changes in sexual activity can also contribute to discomfort. Physical inactivity can lead to reduced blood flow and muscle tension in the pelvic area, which might exacerbate any underlying sensitivity. If you've been less active recently, this could potentially play a role in your symptoms.

It's also worth considering the possibility of other benign conditions that could cause mild discomfort, such as a varicocele (enlarged veins within the scrotum) or a hydrocele (fluid accumulation around the testicle). These conditions can sometimes cause discomfort, especially after physical activity or ejaculation. However, they typically present with additional symptoms, such as swelling or a noticeable mass.

Given your history and the persistence of your symptoms, it would be prudent to consult a healthcare professional, preferably a urologist. They can perform a thorough examination, possibly including an ultrasound, to rule out any structural issues or residual effects from your previous infections. They may also check for any signs of inflammation or other underlying conditions that could be contributing to your discomfort.

In the meantime, you might consider some self-care measures to help alleviate your symptoms. Gentle exercise, such as walking or stretching, can improve blood flow and reduce tension in the pelvic area. Additionally, applying a warm compress to the area may provide some relief. It's also essential to practice good hydration and maintain a balanced diet, as overall health can impact recovery and comfort.

In conclusion, while mild testicular discomfort after ejaculation can be concerning, it is often related to previous infections, mechanical factors, or lifestyle changes. However, given your medical history, it is essential to seek professional advice to ensure that there are no underlying issues that require treatment. Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider is key to addressing your concerns and finding a resolution.
