Is it abnormal immunity if a viral wart hasn't healed for a long time?
Initially, the plantar warts on my feet were mistaken for calluses, and I waited 3 to 4 months before seeking treatment.
After starting treatment, what began as one wart has multiplied to over ten, and I have also developed two warts on my hands and similar lesions in my mouth.
I have undergone treatment three times, but the warts continue to increase rather than decrease.
The treating physician mentioned that I have an abnormal immune response and suggested taking Centrum.
Is taking Centrum really effective?

Persistent warts, particularly those caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), can be frustrating and challenging to treat. It's understandable to feel overwhelmed when initial treatments do not yield the expected results, and the warts seem to multiply. Your experience of initially mistaking the warts for calluses and then seeing them proliferate is not uncommon. Warts can be stubborn, and their persistence may indeed be linked to your immune system's ability to fight off the virus.
The immune system plays a crucial role in controlling viral infections, including those caused by HPV. In many cases, a healthy immune response can eventually clear the virus from the body, leading to the resolution of warts. However, if your immune system is compromised or not functioning optimally, it may struggle to eliminate the virus, resulting in the persistence and spread of warts.
Centrum, a multivitamin supplement, is often suggested to help support overall health, including immune function. While taking a multivitamin like Centrum can help ensure that you are getting essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs, it is important to note that it is not a specific treatment for warts or HPV. There is limited scientific evidence to suggest that taking Centrum or similar supplements will directly lead to the resolution of warts. However, maintaining good nutritional status can support your immune system, which may help your body fight off infections more effectively.
In addition to considering multivitamins, there are several other approaches you might explore to manage persistent warts:
1. Consult a Dermatologist: If you haven't already, seeking the expertise of a dermatologist who specializes in skin conditions can be beneficial. They can provide tailored treatment options based on the severity and location of your warts.
2. Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter treatments containing salicylic acid can help exfoliate the wart and promote its removal. Prescription-strength treatments may also be available.
3. Cryotherapy: This involves freezing the warts with liquid nitrogen, which can be effective in destroying the wart tissue.
4. Laser Therapy: In some cases, laser treatment may be recommended to target and destroy wart tissue.
5. Immunotherapy: This approach aims to boost your immune response to the virus. It may involve topical treatments that stimulate the immune system or injections that help your body recognize and fight the virus.
6. Avoiding Irritation: Protecting the affected areas from irritation and trauma can help prevent further spread of the virus.
7. Healthy Lifestyle: Maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and stress management can all contribute to a healthier immune system.
While it can be disheartening to deal with persistent warts, it's important to remain proactive in seeking treatment and support. If you feel that your immune system is not functioning optimally, discussing this with your healthcare provider can help identify any underlying issues that may need to be addressed. They can also guide you on the appropriate use of supplements like Centrum in conjunction with other treatments.
In summary, while Centrum may not directly resolve your warts, supporting your overall health and immune function is a positive step. Combining this with targeted treatments and professional guidance can enhance your chances of successfully managing and eliminating the warts.
