The body has been experiencing ongoing issues?
Doctor, I have been experiencing drowsiness around 2 PM since July, often falling asleep on the living room sofa.
I have a mild scoliosis and am concerned it may worsen.
At the end of July, while riding my scooter, I accidentally bumped my right foot against the side stand, resulting in a bruise that took a while to heal (the bruise disappeared about a week later, but it was painful to touch, and I applied anti-inflammatory ointment for about half a month before it fully healed).
I also have mild mitral valve prolapse, which has caused me to delay addressing a cavity in my left wisdom tooth (I plan to take care of it soon).
After recovering from a cold earlier this month, I noticed occasional sharp pain in my throat and left armpit (which I hadn't experienced before).
This has persisted for several days, and I find it strange (the throat pain subsides when I drink water).
Now, I am unsure what is wrong with my body and am overthinking it (I am particularly worried about the possibility of an infection from the cavity, and I frequently check my forehead for fever, but I have none).
Recently, a family member experienced some health issues due to overwork, and I am afraid that I might also have a problem that would cause them more worry.

It sounds like you are experiencing a range of health concerns that are understandably causing you anxiety, especially given your family history of health issues. Let's break down your symptoms and concerns from a family medicine perspective, and I will provide some guidance on how to approach these issues.
Firstly, the persistent sleepiness you experience around 2 PM could be attributed to several factors. It might be related to your sleep quality, daily routine, or even dietary habits. If you are not getting enough restorative sleep at night, this could lead to daytime fatigue. Additionally, if you have a sedentary lifestyle or are not engaging in regular physical activity, this could contribute to feelings of lethargy. It’s important to evaluate your sleep hygiene—consider factors like your sleep environment, bedtime routine, and any potential sleep disorders.
Regarding your history of minor spinal issues and the recent injury to your right leg, it’s crucial to monitor any pain or discomfort you experience. While bruising and pain can take time to heal, persistent pain after an injury should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying issues, such as a fracture or ligament damage. If you notice that the pain is affecting your mobility or daily activities, seeking medical advice is warranted.
You mentioned having mitral valve prolapse, which is a common heart condition that can sometimes cause palpitations or anxiety. It’s good that you are aware of this condition, but it’s essential to manage it with regular check-ups and to communicate any new symptoms to your healthcare provider. The concern about your decayed wisdom tooth is also valid; dental infections can lead to systemic issues if left untreated. It’s advisable to address this dental concern promptly to prevent any complications.
The new symptoms of throat and left armpit pain could be related to several benign causes, such as muscle strain or even anxiety, especially if you are feeling stressed about your health. However, since these symptoms have persisted, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation. They may recommend tests to rule out infections or other conditions.
Your anxiety about your health is understandable, particularly in light of your family’s recent health struggles. It’s important to remember that worrying excessively can sometimes exacerbate physical symptoms. Practicing stress management techniques, such as mindfulness, meditation, or gentle exercise, can help alleviate some of this anxiety.
In terms of your overall health management, establishing a relationship with a family physician can be beneficial. A family doctor can provide continuity of care, help coordinate any necessary referrals to specialists, and support you in managing both physical and mental health concerns. When looking for a family physician, consider factors such as their experience with your specific health issues, their communication style, and their approach to patient care.
In summary, while it’s normal to have concerns about your health, addressing these issues with a healthcare professional is crucial. They can provide a comprehensive evaluation and help you develop a plan to manage your symptoms effectively. Remember to prioritize self-care, maintain open communication with your healthcare providers, and seek support from family or friends when needed. Taking proactive steps can help you feel more in control of your health and well-being.
