Side effects of Calamine lotion?
I have been using Klistin Tea Tree Ointment, and my acne has significantly reduced.
However, every time I wash my face, I notice some red patches that are slightly itchy.
I couldn't find any information online about whether this could be a side effect.
If my face doesn't turn red when I don't wash it, should I stop using the ointment and moisturizer? Is it safe to continue washing my face normally?

When using Kelistin Tea Tree Ointment, it's not uncommon to experience some side effects, especially if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions. The symptoms you describe—redness and mild itching after washing your face—could indeed be indicative of a reaction to the ointment or the ingredients within it. Tea tree oil, while known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, can also cause skin irritation in some individuals, particularly when used in higher concentrations or on sensitive skin.
First and foremost, it’s essential to assess the severity of your symptoms. If the redness and itching are mild and subside shortly after washing your face, it may not be a cause for alarm. However, if these symptoms persist or worsen, it would be prudent to discontinue use of the ointment and consult a healthcare professional or dermatologist for further evaluation.
Regarding your question about whether you should stop using the ointment and moisturizer, the answer largely depends on how your skin reacts. If you notice that your skin feels better when you stop using the ointment, it may be wise to avoid it for the time being. On the other hand, if you find that your acne improves with the ointment but the redness and itching are bothersome, you might consider using it less frequently or in conjunction with a gentle moisturizer to help mitigate irritation.
As for washing your face, maintaining a regular cleansing routine is important for acne management. However, the type of cleanser you use can make a significant difference. Opt for a mild, non-irritating cleanser that is free from harsh chemicals and fragrances. This can help reduce the likelihood of irritation while still keeping your skin clean.
In addition to these considerations, it’s worth noting that tea tree oil can be effective for acne treatment, but it should be used with caution. If you have a history of allergic reactions or sensitive skin, it may be beneficial to perform a patch test before applying the ointment to larger areas of your skin. This involves applying a small amount of the product to a discreet area and monitoring for any adverse reactions over 24 hours.
If you continue to experience discomfort or if your acne does not improve, it may be time to explore alternative treatments. There are many other topical treatments available for acne, including benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinoids, which may be better tolerated by your skin.
In summary, while Kelistin Tea Tree Ointment can be effective for treating acne, it’s crucial to listen to your body and monitor how your skin responds. If you experience persistent redness and itching, consider discontinuing use and consulting a dermatologist for personalized advice. They can help you determine the best course of action for your skin type and condition, ensuring that you achieve the best possible results without compromising your skin’s health.
