Right lower abdominal pain?

Since last month, I have been experiencing occasional pain in my lower right abdomen.
A family member underwent surgery for kidney stones in early October, and since the location is quite close, I wondered if I might also have the same issue (especially since I drink very little water).
However, when the pain occurred last week, I had to run to the bathroom, and after observing a few times, I noticed that it tends to happen more often when the weather is colder (I also have a problem with autonomic nervous system dysregulation).
Since the pain has persisted for several days (and I also encountered my menstrual period during this time), I would like to know which department I should visit at the hospital or clinic.

Right lower abdominal pain requires ruling out causes such as appendicitis, gynecological issues, and urinary system problems.
It is recommended to first seek evaluation from general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology.
Please note that online consultations do not equate to in-person medical visits and cannot provide accurate diagnoses or treatment recommendations.

When experiencing right lower abdominal pain, especially if it has been persistent for several days, it is important to seek medical attention to determine the underlying cause. Given your family history of gallstone surgery and your own symptoms, it is wise to approach this situation with caution.

The right lower abdomen houses several critical organs, including the appendix, parts of the intestines, and in females, the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Pain in this area can arise from various conditions, ranging from benign to serious. Some potential causes include appendicitis, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy (in females), urinary tract infections, or gastrointestinal issues such as constipation or irritable bowel syndrome.

Since you mentioned that the pain seems to correlate with colder weather and that you have a history of autonomic nervous system disorders, it is possible that your symptoms could be exacerbated by stress or anxiety, which can manifest physically. Stress can lead to muscle tension and gastrointestinal disturbances, potentially contributing to abdominal pain.
Given the complexity of your symptoms and their duration, I recommend that you consult a healthcare provider as soon as possible. The appropriate specialty for your situation would likely be either a gastroenterologist or an internist. A gastroenterologist specializes in digestive system disorders and would be well-equipped to evaluate any gastrointestinal issues. An internist, on the other hand, can provide a comprehensive assessment of your overall health and coordinate care among various specialties if needed.

During your visit, the doctor will likely perform a thorough physical examination and may order diagnostic tests such as blood tests, urinalysis, or imaging studies like an ultrasound or CT scan to identify any underlying issues. It is crucial to provide your doctor with a detailed history of your symptoms, including the nature of the pain (sharp, dull, cramping), any associated symptoms (nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel habits), and any triggers you have noticed.

If your pain worsens, or if you experience additional symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or changes in bowel habits, you should seek immediate medical attention, as these could indicate a more serious condition that requires urgent care.

In summary, while right lower abdominal pain can stem from various causes, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional to determine the exact nature of your symptoms. Seeking care from a gastroenterologist or internist will help ensure that you receive the appropriate evaluation and treatment. Remember to stay hydrated and manage stress, as these factors can significantly impact your overall health and well-being.
