Probability of Pregnancy
Hello doctor, I had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend on February 26 and February 28.
February 26 was my first time, and February 28 was my second time.
We did not use a condom, and there was no ejaculation inside.
What is the likelihood of pregnancy in this situation? Could I become pregnant? The day after my first time, I experienced some bleeding; could this be due to being stretched?

Dear inquirer: There is a possibility of pregnancy even if ejaculation does not occur during intercourse, as pre-ejaculatory fluid may contain sperm.
It is recommended to check for pregnancy if your period is more than a week late.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health, Dr.
Zhang.

More Info
When it comes to understanding the chances of pregnancy after unprotected intercourse, several factors come into play. Based on your timeline, you had unprotected sexual intercourse on February 26 and February 28. The likelihood of becoming pregnant depends on various aspects, including your menstrual cycle, ovulation timing, and the nature of the sexual activity.
Firstly, it’s important to understand your menstrual cycle. Ovulation typically occurs around 14 days before the start of your next period. If your cycle is approximately 34 days long, ovulation would likely occur around day 20 of your cycle. If you had intercourse on February 26 and 28, you would be within the fertile window if you were approaching ovulation. Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, which means that if you ovulate shortly after these dates, there is a possibility of pregnancy.
Regarding the bleeding you experienced the day after your first sexual encounter, it could be attributed to several factors. If this was your first time having intercourse, it’s possible that the bleeding was due to vaginal irritation or slight trauma, especially if there was insufficient lubrication. This type of bleeding is often referred to as "spotting" and is generally not a cause for concern unless it is heavy or accompanied by pain.
Now, to address your question about the likelihood of pregnancy: if you were within your fertile window during those days, the chances of conception are certainly present. However, without knowing the exact timing of your ovulation, it is difficult to provide a precise probability. Generally, if intercourse occurs during the fertile window, the chance of pregnancy can range from 15% to 30% per cycle, depending on various factors.
If you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, it is advisable to take a home pregnancy test if your period is late. Most tests are reliable around the time of your expected period, which is typically about two weeks after ovulation. If you experience any unusual symptoms, such as heavy bleeding, severe pain, or other concerning signs, it is important to seek medical attention.
In summary, while there is a possibility of pregnancy given your unprotected sexual encounters, the exact likelihood depends on your ovulation timing and other individual factors. If you have further concerns or questions about your reproductive health, consider consulting with a healthcare provider who can offer personalized advice and support.
